So, I have virtually no prior experience to base my expectations of the interaction or participation between my lawyer and I, so I wanted to ask the group for some insight because I'm starting to have some issues with him and his paralegal in regards to their communication.
Lately I can't get his paralegal to text or call me back, or even respond to emails with time sensitive questions that I have. She told me to cc my lawyer in every correspondence which I have but I don't get a response back. I sent one last week and the response I got was not regarding any of that email but I stead another to inform me of a change in hearing schedule. I texted her asking if she got the email and never got a response.
Several months ago, when I hired them, I was getting constant and fast responses via text from his paralegal, and she was awesome, but that has dwindled to basically nothing. She apologized and says she has been swamped, and I have not pushed the issue, however these questions are time sensitive in many regards.
With my lawyer himself, he is very straightforward and direct, no bullshit, which I appreciate.. However, several times I have had him call me randomly in the middle of the day to discuss aspects of the case, instead of setting an appointment up, where I can have my thoughts in order and be in the right mindstate, instead of running out the front door of work in the middle of something to discuss aspects of my divorce. He has also not responded to any of the newly cc'd emails.
I get asked if I want to ask the court to appoint things like guardian ad litem, without being explained what that is and if I think it's a good idea or not. I'm not even entirely clear on all this process wise, as every time I'm asked I'm getting a rushed or part answer. Is this sort of interaction what you'd consider normal.for lawyers offices to do? Should I just push contact more? Should I consider new representation?
Thanks for the insight.
