If the youngest is 17, then the rest are adults. Why can’t you contact them yourself and ask? There is absolutely no reason you need to go through your ex. If they are busy with school, college and work they can tell you themselves.

While I hesitate at the "and yes my eyes are wide open"...

They are all older, it sounds like, except the youngest. Even then, a one-on-one conversation would be best, in my opinion. Unless you do not have a close enough relationship with them to do that. No judgement there. Then I would suggest a short and simple letter, "I love you and want you to be involved in my and Y's life. I would be honored and would love for you to attend (or be a part of) our wedding on X date at Z place. If you can't make it or do not feel comfortable, I understand and still would like to meet up with you sometime in the next X time period and take you out to dinner and catch up."

Looking more deeply into this ... in fact you are - in love, approximately five months from when you originally got divorced, you are getting re-married. Yeah, that is a hard no from me, my man.

I suspect that you are back here within the next five years or less. There is a statistical reason why I strongly encourage guys to wait a full year after their divorce before they start dating.

That being said, I don't hope that you are back here, in fact, I hope this ONE is THE ONE and you have found your "soulmate" and best friend, etc. Buuuuut, statistics weigh heavily against that.

You are a courageous man to consider re-marrying. I do see the "in-love"-thing, but I am still wondering: why another marriage?

You have children and plan to get married... and can't come up with your own reasons for wanting them present?

Also - your youngest is 17 - why aren't you asking your kids yourself???
