Thirty days after being served and I’ve yet to receive my discovery questionaire from stbx’s lawyer. STBX says her lawyer is waiting to hear from my lawyer to send the papers to her office. I was informed that papers would be sent directly to me. My lawyer (not officially hired yet, just consult) said this is a delay tactic on stbx’s lawyer part bc they’re overwhelmed with cases.

As for me filing any response to divorce complaint within a certain period, there’s no requirement in my county to do so and there’s nothing written to that effect on the complaint. Lawyer confirmed this. It only states that if I do not file a claim before divorce is granted I can lose alimony rights, etc. She basically said the ball is in stbx’s court.

So my question is, did (edit) anyone else have a similar beginning? I’m ready to start the paperwork process, how can I prepare or get it going?
