My point of view has always been than the wife provides sex (and other wifely services) while the husband provides funding. When she stops providing sex, I stop providing funding.
The family court did not agree, had their own ideas on the matter, and ordered me to make particular monthly payments to my ex-wife. They also wanted me to share some of my money and other stuff with her.
I did not pay or give her anything. In fact, I will never pay or give her anything. I would rather burn the money than to give it to her.
So, I left the country and became a digital nomad approximately 15 years ago.
I also converted from Christianity to Islam, because Islamic law specifically says that I am 100% right on the matter: I owe her nothing at all. I even got circumcised for that reason. I like Islam a lot because it is a religion with sharp teeth. So, we are a good match. We can help each other to defend the faith.
Did anybody else here also leave his country for good or change his religion specifically because he did not agree with the divorce settlement?

I can quote the precise verses from the Quran and the Sunnah, if you want to, that basically say that we pay and support women and that they need to be available and exclusive for sex. I was simply born in the wrong religion. In the meanwhile, I have fixed that problem and have converted to Islam.
I became wealthy after my divorce. I don't need to work anymore. I've got another wife now. So, I don't see how moving out of the country and converting to Islam destroyed my life? My life has never been as good as now. Allah blessed me with truckloads of cash and a pretty woman. So, no, on the contrary, I got rewarded handsomely by the Almighty for picking the right religion.

How can you separate both? I need a moral justification to argue why I rejected the divorce settlement.

Even though I generally dislike Hitler, and certainly what he did to the Jews, I agree with his assessment of Christianity:
Christianity is a religion for simps. That is why they agree to get divorce-raped. I am not like that. That religion is nothing for me.

Really depends a bit on your location. If you're in the US - you're outlook will be looked upon as EXTREMELY backwards and old-school.
Most states I think are coming to the point where the person at a disadvantage is the high earner for obvious reasons. Sex frequency isn't really considered in the law at all and unless any abuse is EXTREMELY well documented or physical it won't be considered if you're the man. If you're the woman you just have to say you're abused and the court believes you basically.
Your opinions are your own, your religious view is yours to choose but the overall free world is really seeming to want to separate religion and law. Marriage really shouldn't be handled by the law in my opinion - it should be completely ignored outside of providing for children type issues. Marriage is a religious contract but in the law it is dissolved in a no-fault way even if there is plenty of fault. People can have as many affairs and abuse their spouse almost freely and then if they aren't the high earner can totally take them to court and win. It's pretty lame in that regard.
Your views however I do not agree with at all and am personally disgusted by the idea that men and women are not 100% equal.
While your angst is shared by many men your abandonment of your responsibilities is not shared by most here.

Religion is a tool like any other tool. As an individual, it is virtually impossible to defend yourself against a government that bullies you. As a religious community, it is perfectly feasible. With every divorce rape, the so-called "free world" is happily multiplying the multitude of its enemies. I do not consider a world that arbitrarily divorce-rapes you to be a "free" one.
It is pretty much the same view as your own ancestors had, and I am sure that they would side with me and be disgusted with you.
Debating the issue will not make any difference. Sooner or later, men will simply have to prove that they are willing to risk their lives and die for what they believe in. On your side, they will have to show that they are willing to sacrifice themselves for the privilege of getting divorce-raped by their own side, because that is what they would be defending. At the same time, there is nothing as simple and easy as switching sides.
I repeat. With every divorce rape, your side is multiplying the multitude of their enemies.

Islamic jurisprudence decides on the matter for people who confess to being a follower of the religion. Islamic jurisprudence does not readily allow for that. Both wife and husband have to agree not to have children, and they can change their minds about that. So, that kind of deals pretty much never last. Furthermore, how can you say to the prospective bride that you do not want children with her? Have you ever tried to do that?
