Like many of you I thought my ex was the unicorn when we first met. But after time the paint dried up, cracked, withered and fell off. The horn was duct taped on, but time made the tape brittle and eventually it fell off.

What I was stuck with was the old grey mare that ain't what she used to be.

Point is, just because she gave up on us/you doesn't mean you have to. Keep it up, stay out there, maybe you find the 'real' unicorn. Maybe you change your life perspective. Become introflective and realize the time is now to be either the best you or the best you that you can be.

You aren't defined by what other people think or you, how they treat you or their expectations of you. You define yourself for you, you truly are your own person. No one should control you and what your hopes, ambitions, and goals are.

You may feel like in the midst of your divorce or post divorce she crushed these things. But keep on, keep persevering and reach your goals. Whether that's being the best dad for your kids, finding a new love interest, financial success; whatever the goal is, keep trying.

Not to be cheesy but, if you don't reach for the stars you'll never get there.
