Hello everyone. I know things can change from state to state but looking for some insight on my current situation. She filed and sent the typical unbelievable demands in her first offer. We countered and her lawyer said the counter was so far off they do not intend to respond. But if we want to change our offer then they would be willing to discuss the new offer we send them. Some backstory is we were married less then 10 years in NY with zero kids. Live (she moved out) in my parents house which "we" renovated but I paid for 90% of the cost. My name is not on the deed to this house. My parents moved to my moms parents house (my grandparents) and my mom put the name of her kids on that deed. So she is claiming money is owed money to her for the value of the house we improved but don't own or paid any rent, just all monthly bills and taxes associated while doing renovations. She also has her own business but hides cash. Taxes shows she barley turns a profit so the judge (blown away he just agreed to a business owner of 10 years doesn't take cash tips or payments for income) awarded her more then she should've been for monthly alimony. Does it make sense to submit another offer when they didn't submit their own counter? The mediator said the houses aren't in play and if she wants them appraised then she has to pay for it. But who knows what the judge will rule after dispositions. I am just over it all and annoyed with how everything is worded with the law. My first and only marriage unless I find one that makes more then me haha. Any insight is appreciated.
