Record, record, record. Be careful calling the police. It could backfire on either of you or both. Only call if you feel physically threatened.

As my attorney once told me. “She fucked up and you will find out for the rest of your life. “ 4 years later my attorney was right. Her plan failed miserably and the collateral damage will be generational. She chose to go scorched earth when her AP dipped. Sad but true. I’m living a nightmare daily and cannot wait for my youngest to turn 18.

No contact. Step 1. Send a notice of intent for protective order if she keeps harassing you. Step 2. Do not negotiate over emails. Get her in front of a mediator. Step 3. Leave mediation half way through like you’re buying a new car. Step 4. Wait. Step 5. File paperwork. Calendar requests and bombard her with legal filings. Step. 6. Go back to mediation and get what you want. Step 7. You can do this without an attorney. God speed brother. You got this.

Google alienation of affection and criminal conversation. See if you live in one of the states that recognizes these laws. -If so, hire a PI and don’t tell anyone. Get the information you need and prepare to sue this man. -If not, file the complaint yourself. It’ll cost $40. Use ChatGPT to prepare the docs. This will buy you time until July. Ask yourself one simple question. Would you rather be the plaintiff or the defendant? In your filing and testimony you can set the narrative. Remember Plaintiffs typically go first in Civil proceedings. It was the hardest decision of my life. I filed first.

My ex mother in law made me a treasure box when I was still married to her daughter. She labeled it “Daddy’s Treasure Box”. It was basically a giant tote box that she painted. She made this for me after she heard my wife and me arguing over the kiddos art work. My ex used to throw out their art work, crafts etc. and it pissed me off royally. My kids are a little older now and I still have the box. It is filled with Worlds Best Dad and I love you notes from my daughters. I sent a picture of the b…

Yeah, mine too. LoL. Since last March/April I have only used AI to respond to her. I run it through GPT first and then use GPTs output in OFW and then run OFWs AI model for the final draft. It’s been a game changer. Especially when communicating with her attorney. They’re both petty af. I love AI’s ability to call out their bullshit instantly and relate it to our never ending custody matter disputes.

I think many of us in this sub would welcome the chance at a do over. Just remember that people rarely change and it takes two to tango. Your family is worth the effort. Our counseling during separation was just a fact finding mission for my ex. She had no intention whatsoever of working on things. I still say do it for the kids and your family. Be open minded. Only you know what’s in your heart. Godspeed and Report back.

Good attorney’s are $400/hr. Most require minimum $5K retainer. This may be an unpopular comment or just simply not an option but have you tried counseling together or therapy? Once you start down the attorney path it’s going to be hard to reconcile once filings happen.

Show them how people of character behave. My ex and I separated 4 years ago. I have been dealing with this exact thing for nearly a decade and it has continued to get worse over time. My oldest is 18. Youngest 14. I’ve wondered if or when it will stop and have accepted that we will be dealing with her behavior for the rest of our lives. I’ve been dealing with this for almost 4 years with my oldest daughter that recently turned 18. My only advice is to show no emotion regarding the topic. Control what you can control. Yes, it’s inappropriate and you’re right for being concerned. Play the long game. This is just another version of the flying monkeys. There’s a three year rule where I live in the US. You can motion for review after three years or at anytime if there’s a significant change (+/-15%) in circumstances. The system is deeply flawed and designed to keep you out of court once final orders have been established. I just filed a motion to modify CS. She motioned for a continuance and the hearing has now been pushed to February. And will likely not get heard until next summer. Wish me luck.

Finding and building a relationship with your therapist can take time. Years in fact. Find what works for you and do the work. Basically you get what you put into it. I learned: -Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a woman scorned -Less is more -Healing takes time -Grief is not linear -I’m still standing

You need a support system. Friends family therapist. I have a group of friends that have been through the hellscape of divorce. They each come with their own perspective. Sometimes we talk divorce and my ex and our kids. Sometimes not. I’ll get random texts checking in and then the random sports, news, meme texts. Keep these lines of communication open. Don’t dump on them every time. Reach out with things unrelated to your divorce. That said, you do need to find someone that you can talk to regu…

She thought bankrupting me would make it easier for her to get full custody. I was terminated from my tech job on the exact day the money from marital home and assets were disbursed. Home was sold and other liquid assets hit both our bank accounts that very morning. I was fired at 10am. My ex was friends with my manager. Friends since high school. She snitched on my arrest to company leadership. My PI had them on video hatching the plan at dinner one night. I live in a right to work state.

I went through something similar. I’d send another offer. Let her counteroffer and then deny her counter and say we’re preparing for trial. Then go back to your original offer. Or just wait it out. It’s a chess match. This strategy worked to get my ex to the table after my attorney simply said - we’re preparing for trial. The back and forth just burns through retainers.

Prepare for exactly what you said. 3 years out and ex still fucks with our relationship, custodial time, and refuses to co parent. If it gets ugly just be prepared. Your relationships will change forever. It’s how you deal with it that matters. Your daughter will adore you forever if you make it happen.

Most of the posts are about men getting screwed over by their ex AND the system. The system is flawed so tread lightly. Have you tried to find the things that brought you together 20 years ago? You had a connection at some point. Date your wife again. Do things without the kids. Try something new with her. Get therapy. Divorce should be the last option if the relationship isn’t broken.

I’ve gone completely no contact with her since I was served by the Sheriff. She continues to instigate and provoke me. I will not take the bait. She changed the locks, hid my car, took the kids to her parents. After I was released, she convinced a life long friend to take me out of state for a “therapy retreat.” - breaking the terms of m…

Separated in 2022. Divorced in 2023. My daughters were 14 and 11. My oldest is extremely close with her mother. My youngest has always been daddy’s little girl. They are 17 and 13 now. Early on, I thought it would be better if the girls got to choose when and where to go but I realized quickly that was a mistake. We attended family therapy together when it was clear that my ex was divorcing me. In multiple sessions with us all together and 1:1s with the therapist it was obvious they did not want…

If you live in NC you live in one of the few states that alienation of affection is punishable. If she had sex and admitted it. That’s criminal conversation in civil family court. Both are relevant with proof and can be used as leverage to settle if she pulls the alimony card. There’s a NC General Statute you should look up. Split your money and get out.

A formal subpoena is different than asking for records in discovery. You will need to file a written motion to object to the subpoena or file a protective order with the court to keep the information from being released by the cell carrier. Cell phone carriers will comply with the subpoena if you don’t object or file protective orders.

Yes, 5 expensive sessions. 2 of the sessions were walkouts. We were also in court hearings during this time and they went horribly for her. She did not perform well on the stand. My lawyer was a former judge from the same county and she torched my ex. It was the funniest and the saddest thing ever. This is why I tell people to file first. Hire an attorney that will represent you. The legal benefits through EAPs are more or less just consultative sessions. Find the right attorney and have the legal complaints drafted and ready to be submitted to the courts before you have the talk with her.

Following release from jail and the no contact order being lifted she agreed to marriage counseling sessions. The first one was a complete shit show. She showed up with a financial agreement. I was floored. The second session a month later she came for only one purpose…to say, “Do not blame me for this. Goodbye.” And walked out. I haven’t spoken with her since. Only through OFW. 3 years later and she’s still a miserable bitch because I caught her and AP in the act.
