Wife and I are rapidly approaching our 10 year anniversary and things are, and have been, extremely difficult/volatile, trending to worse. I'm over 4-yrs invested in therapy tailored towards addressing my inherent anxiety and abandonment fear, relationship skills, de-escalation, individuation, "not accepting the hot potato" that her anger represents, and the end result feels a lot like I've learned to be really good at tongue-biting and not sticking up for myself. 3 attempts at couples therapy have resulted, in my opinion, in her bailing or claiming the therapist was taking my side. Our 10 yr-old daughter is wise beyond years and sees it all, especially the emotional cutoff that my wife employs regularly. Over three weeks in January consisted of barely acknowledging I was in the house, love-bombing our child, and deliberate/performative coldness towards me. I've tried to give her grace over the past 2 years since our daughter was diagnosed with a life-long condition that requires constant medical care, but I'm not so naive as to not realize the toll this relationship is taking on me. A divorce will be challenging but doable on my end, so long as she does not get nasty in regard to spousal support. I promised myself I wouldn't give up until I felt that I was being the absolute best husband I am capable of being and while there's always room for growth, I'm good with who I am and what I've learned. I just struggle with the thought of "leaving someone in crisis". I would never leave due to a terminal illness or some other hardship, so I'm looking for guidance/thoughts/experiences. Thanks in advance.
