This would be our fourth year married, little one is turning 3 in April. She asked for a divorce this time last year but we managed to reconcile, which I thought was permanent. Just gonna leave out the many reasons why this has not worked out.

Basically, live in North Carolina. She has not worked in almost 6 years, by her own volition. She remained a stay at home mom since our kid was born.

I will be getting a lawyer soon, but was hoping one others that have had very similar experiences in North Carolina can give a rough idea what to expect and prepare for.

If I had the means to, I would totally support her while she gets a job and we do 50/50 child custody. I expect to pay child support and will do so amicably within reason. The trouble is that we have been receiving financial assistance from both our families since our kid was born just to get by. I’ve racked up considerable debt to keep things running, I don’t have any savings or assets besides our home. I don’t make enough to live on my own and pay what I believe might end up being 3-500 in child support.

I’m just scared that my failure as a husband will lead to struggling as a part time dad because of all this.
