I will try to keep this short and sweet and I’d really appreciate some support, TIA. My wife and I have always been different people but it seemed to work. She has a lot of mental issues so it was always up to me to keep the peace. Looking back I carried the relationship for years, financially, responsibilities, adult decisions, etc. We had a son last December, I did/do a massive portion of the work to care for him. The first few months while she was breastfeeding she obviously had to do more, but I had to return to work and she was on maternity leave for 3 months. She had/has postpartum depression really bad, she was already on medication before we even got pregnant. Over the past few years I’ve gotten more resentful towards her because of her lack of support, I asked her for help many times but according to her “it was too late”. In March she asked me for an “open marriage”, I was in total shock, it was the only thing that made her happy. I reluctantly agreed with the condition it would only be with other women. Over time it morphed and transformed into her talking to other men then she started sleeping with them. She kept things from me and started lying a lot. I work two jobs to support the home and care for my son and dogs so I don’t have a lot of time to catch onto things with her. I had a feeling it would end badly but I honestly wanted to put her to the test to see if she’s a good person/wife. Fast forward and shocker she failed and we are getting divorced. She recently moved out and it’s hard not being with my son but honestly it’s nice she is forced to actually do 50% of the parenting. I have a mix of emotions, I’m happy to not be with her but it’s never the life I wanted for my son. I am also disappointed in myself that I put up with her crap for way too long. Just a little lost and need some advice on how to start rebuilding myself/my life and move forward.
