considering walking away. Thing is that I'm on the mortgage and I pay for the car (I don't want it), the thing is it's expensive on a monthly basis, close to $800 a month. I'm considering nuking my balance in my 401k to pay off the car. We don't have kids together (this isn't our first time getting married). She has a good job too. Other thing is the house has a small home equity $20K and another tax lien for $17K. I can go buy another starter home and I don't have any issue in doing that. I also have property up north and investments from prior to the marriage that she can't touch. I essentially pay off the vehicle, give it to her and then the only thing left is the mortgage which we can haggle over later. I don't want the home, but I'm not going to walk away with no equity since it's almost $180K. I'll still have close to $600K in retirement. I'm trying to just get out and it's not an effort to destroy her. Thoughts?
