What is a skill or practice you returned to for survival or making life easier?

I'll go first.

I am using a clothesline to dry my clothes during the day. My mom and I lived with my grandmother for two years, and I loved doing laundry with her during the summer because she would dry most of the laundry on her clothesline. I liked the scent of it and it put me at ease with everything that had happened leading up to moving in with her.

When I moved into my apartment, the first thing I saw was the clothesline poles. I also knew I had no central air. As a part of my summer strategy, I decided to use the clothesline for towels, sheets, jeans, most whites, and other garments. It's gone well so far.
