Ex and I separated at the beginning of the year, formally in July with a legal separation and financial separation agreement. We sold our house and both moved to a new state. Both of us have also bought property and live in said property in the new state. We had a temp child custody agreement in place in NC that was supposed to have been moved to the new state within 30 days so we could move forward with a permanent agreement and divorce. That has not happened.

She and her lawyer have stonewalled now for 4 months and I'm not sure why. I can't move forward to a divorce in our current state because of the temp custody order. Can't move forward in the old state (NC) because they require you to be physically separated for 366 days before you can even file.

My current states lawyer says nothing she can do until NC agrees to move the case or dismisses it. Since my ex won't respond about moving the case, it just sits in limbo and I just keep paying legal fees for absolutely nothing.

I want to move this forward, I want 50/50 custody. So I'm looking at having to rehire my NC attorney to file for contempt charges against my ex. This absolutely blows as I'm trying my damndest to build a positive co-parenting relationship and avoid drama for the kids, but she's happy sitting back colleting a fat child support check and racking up the bills.

Frustrating as fuck. I just want to move on with my life. Five figures and counting in legal bills just in the past 6 months.
