Supervised visitation

My exwife wanted me to sign off on supervised visitation only. I said "no, 50/50 custody". She countered with, at mediation that "the kids need me full time. He can come over and see them anytime he wants to."

Then she was ready to counter with un-supervised visitation. I said "50/50 custody".

Family court is, well, family court. In order for me to get 50/50 custody? I had to submit evidence of her recent conviction and jail time for "DUI with kids in the car" when she crashed the car into a truck while driving high as a kite on pills. I got my 50/50 custody.

My point? Courts like to keep as-is. If you get stuck with supervised visitation? The court will just leave as-is. Get it there for the custody at the get-go.

At one point my Xs lawyer threatened supervised visitation. I told my kids, and we laughed hard at it. In court, I asked him if he wants to supervise me and I will pay him well above minimum wage. I could do this no fucks given because I proved my ex a pathological liar.
Don't take these agents of state seriously. Be nice. Be stoic. Make fun of them all after. Because the truth is these strangers don't give a shit about your kids. They ruin men for the money and sometimes even the pleasure and it's all done at the cost of your kids future.

Unless there are real grounds requiring your visitation to be supervised, it’s universally a mistake to agree to it because it sets the stage for finding you to be incapable, unfit or a risk to the children. If there are solid grounds to require it, then you’ll probably have to eat it for some period of time, provided that there are clear milestones for the condition of supervision to be relaxed and eliminated over time. But if it’s not necessary, avoid it.
