So based on recommendations from my attorney and members of this subreddit, I am going to be filing for a TRO against my STBXW this week. She has been verbally and physically abusive towards my kids and verbally abusive towards me. Her anger is out of control and she becomes unhinged at the most trivial situations.

She’s also a cheating BPD/narcissist who really needs to get professional mental help. I’m hoping this will be a wake up call for her to do so.

What I need help with is how to tell my kids that she’s going to be going away for a while and they won’t be seeing her. It’s likely she will try to strike a deal at some point for supervised visitation with them but it’s not clear how soon that will occur.

My kids and I will be staying in the home. I’m not sure where she will be going (nor do I really care). I just want to cushion the blow for my kids as much as possible since they do love her. Any recommended talking points?
