She tells her friends that she's "she didn't know that life could be this good" post-sep. That's largely on account of the fact that 9 months after I left the house she still isn't working or supporting herself, so when she doesn't have the kids her 1/2 time it's basically party central. I honestly don't know why she gets up in the morning.
On the other hand, not knowing that I know this, she duns me for money "for the kids" above their child support, because "it's what's best for the kids", she "doesn't have money to go out", and she supposes that I'm "living the high life".
I am having an ok time, and that's largely because I'm working hard and making money and spending it on myself. That's my money, besides what she had the court order me to pay.
And btw, now she wants "what's fair" and "what's reasonable"? That sense of amicability died when you lied about how much you support them in court. You made legal demands on me for more responsibility and I'm not in a position to fight them; now you've got that responsibility and it turns out you didn't really want it, you just wanted the leverage. Well, be careful what you wish for.
You want primary custody? You want 2/3 time, and the child support that goes with that? But then you want me to take them to drs. appointments, and still pay for all of their costs? Meanwhile paying you just for breathing?
If you wanted fair and balanced you shouldn't have tried to compel some leverage through the courts. We could have arranged for something reasonable. But you thought you had an advantage and gambled and lost. Now you own that. And you own your duplicity, even though you don't know that I know that.
Honestly I don't why I'm surprised. The whole entitled attitude of deserving her cake and eating it too is what led to our divorce. I just don't know where to start with someone that wants total control and all of the money, but then won't live up to the demands of responsibility those stipulations bring with them.
I tried to be reasonable, and then someone got in her ear and told her she deserved more. Now we'll do it the hard way. And she took me to court, and frankly I thought I'd lose; but she gambled and lost and now wants to revert to the old notion. Too late, the die was cast. By you. And you don't want to own that it came up snake eyes.

Oh hell. I had the option to pay my ex a lump sum for alimony and I leapt at the chance even though it cut my capital thin. I felt I’d make more money in years coming and there was no way I’d let her enjoy the fruits of that. I was right. My income more than doubled, nearly tripled. She was pissed that she couldn’t claim any of it for spousal support.
I agree about the confused feminism you mentioned. Some women are still entrenched in the idea that they’re to be cared for and thus develop a monumental sense of entitlement.
Heh. Magical avocado toast!
