Hey guys. I'm going to try to get to the point but I do want to preface this by saying that this past winter was the most traumatic thing I've ever experienced... by far. My eight year relationship ended in November, and I live in Minneapolis so I had to process that in one of the most surreal and dystopian environments imaginable (at least within an uncollapsed USA) due to what ICE did here. I also had to shut down my business and declare bankruptcy as a result of the end of the marriage. I was the one to formally end things, but she checked out of the relationship a long time before that. All of this occurred against the backdrop of Minnesota's deep, dark winter.

Without dwelling too much on the details of the above, I have made a very solid financial recovery now that I'm not in massive debt anymore. I've got two restaurant jobs and have essentially disappeared into my work until further notice. My lease is ending in July, and I really don't know what to do next. I'm pretty sure I want to leave this city and never come back though. I think it's very natural to want that after what happened. My ex-wife was the last person on earth that really had any genuine, real love for me. I don't have family that actually gives a shit about me and they made that clear a long time ago.

By the time my lease ends, I'll have a good chunk of change to do something new and inventive. I've had a lot of ideas, but I don't really know what direction to go in. Initially I wanted to go teach English in Vietnam. Then I wanted to move to Mendoza, Argentina (I speak Spanish) for a time, then I wanted to go somewhere warmer and sunnier in the US, then I wanted to be a bush pilot in Alaska or generally move there for work in at least the summer... I have a new idea practically every week and can find a lot of flaws in all of these ideas.

Has anyone here been in a similar position in the past? Where would you go if you could pretty much go anywhere or do pretty much anything?
