I'm a struggling divorced dad. I currently stay in a 1bd apartment and get my 2 kids every other weekend. When they're here I sleep on the couch. I am moving because my.rent is going up to 1.3k monthly (May not seem like a lot but I'm poor) from the $1.1k I currently pay. It is about 750 sqft with 1.5ba. There is a good place that has 1bd at 670 sqft for $725 and includes wifi and basic cable in the rent. They also said if I waited they can get me a 2bd/1ba for about $875. I'm also a nursing student. The 2bd/1ba is 815 sqft. I'm not done with school until Summer '26. The question is do I stay at 1bd size and just sleep on the couch when the kids are there or wait on the 2bd and have the additional room?
