It’s barely even a “war”. Misandrists are literally everywhere, newsrooms, Hollywood, politics, corporate jobs, don’t even get me started on social media, and many of them are mothers scarily enough. Meanwhile the misogynists (and yes they do exist) are hiding in basements and private 4chan chat rooms where they just echo chamber the same sentiments over and over. It’s not an equal battle.

The "years of systemic oppression" is a dirty damned lie, for one thing. Men and women got universal suffrage (note the word "universal", it matters) in English-speaking countries roughly a decade apart, if that much. And even then it's mostly because it was men what fought and died for those rights, women were just given them in fairness that men were never offered. The real oppression has always, always been haves vs. have nots. And her insistence that men are the bad guys of history makes her a useful idiot for the real oppressors.

Maybe.
I specified Anglo countries because a)the original conversation happened in English, so it's the history most likely being accused of "oppression" b) I know U.S. and British history inside and out enough to feel confident in making claims; general European history to a lesser extent, but still enough to push back on a few things; but I do not know, say, Chinese or Arabic history enough c)and Gerda Lerner was a hack. I spit on her grave. She did so much damage to a factual representation of history it's hard to know where to even start with her. Anyway.
Could as easily *not* be valid for Chinese history, but someone who knows that answer or has the time to research it would have to tell you that. But it sure as hell ain't right for our history here in the U.S., which is the usual target of comments like these.
