I do agree with the notion that a lot of guys are star from emotion and that is not entirely their fault as just like society has certain expectations of women there is a certain look or certain attitude guys are told is socially acceptable even though it may be unhealthy
I have made other men straight up cry because they see me as some big black dude but I'm also super comfortable with my emotions and my personality and when they see that I guess they get teary-eyed which is a good and bad thing because it shows that masculinity is a performance yet we live in a society and all of that is not going to go away just by a bunch of men acknowledging it
we also have to consider the fact that there are women who do see men being emotional as weak and I have had so many examples of that in my personal life.
of course I don't blame every woman and the girl I'm seeing right now doesn't care but that does not eradicate so many of the examples I saw and was victim to growing up
it wasn't until I was 18 where I was fully comfortable in being myself because by that time everybody was just mature enough to not play stupid games but it also took a lot of self convincing to tell myself to be me even though I know I will face criticism from men and women
I think a lot of girls seem to forget that it is a privilege that women are seen as emotional and make social connections easier because women are seen as freely or weak or sensitive or easygoing and men are seen as threats or stoic even if we don't want to be
but I feel like the argument falls short when we say that the problem is many to form better connections because it eradicates the other side of the problem and that is that there are a number of women who do believe it or at least put on the performance of believing that men are supposed to be hypermasculine and look like the 1950s
. Also being open and emotional as a man isn't something that is a ticket to love and as much as women say they like it it usually takes a lot of the guy actually putting his relationship and feelings for it as a lot of girls will not give benefit of the doubt and my mileage may vary from you guys but I have literally called girls out on their b******* when they generalize a man or say something hypocritical
I'm told the story many times but if it's so well but I've had two female cashiers who argue with me up and down that all men were sex crazed cheaters even though here I am a Man who is a quarter through his life and has never done that
it is very unfair and a little insulting just to keep circle jerking and say that guys just don't know how to have emotional bonds because I've never had that problem and yet I still have problems finding girls as a kid and even in my adult life.
it takes two for all of this to happen and society and how we view men and women comes from both men and women and it's going to take a lot of work to overcome this and I don't see it happening in my lifetime but hopefully it will
