21M Pretty much lived redpill. Still having a somewhat hard time disbelieving it just because I haven't heard any academic arguments yet to the contrary. Although what I've read doesn't match my experiences, such as the one you'll see below
Redpill made me a misanthrope. When I 'discovered' that all human interaction is basically about climbing ladders of social hierarchy, I felt disgusted and hateful of mankind.
Redpill put up a serious barrier to both romantic and platonic relationships. I avoided investing in people entirely because I thought it was too much effort for too little reward, and that people's way of judging each other made them undeserving of my attention.
I hated that I viewed all men with suspicion: Male interactions were just trying to climb up sexual fitness hierarchies. Any male in my life whose success I should have celebrated, I instead viewed with anger and resentment, because I viewed them as rivals to be in the top 5% of men who could actually find a relationship
As regards romantic relationships, I've always felt myself to be a very traditional, masculine guy: I'm a WWII reenactor and pretty much all of my hobbies and attitudes run along traditional masculine lines.
But I've always been very emotionally expressive, and redpill taught me that I had to basically show no emotion or weakness around women, otherwise they would leave me. (I now know this is not true, vulnerability is attractive to both sexes, and in either case, I have a rule now that I'm not going to pretend to hide my emotions or intentions)
I wanted to be sweet to women and pay for things, not because I wanted them to owe me, but because I feel it is my masculine duty, and I like being a provider. I was told however that it made women value me less if I was sweet to them, that they would run off and look for someone who was more of an asshole.
On the other hand, I thought that I wouldn't be able to be my real masculine self, because women would think I was unattractive for liking combat and competition (sidenote: in a very hilarious incident, I scared my most recent gf when she asked to hear my gym playlist: it was just a bunch of white noise gunfire with music, see historyfeels on YouTube)
What ended up helping me out was actually the most recent relationship I had. After reading a good book by Mark Manson (Models: Attracting Women through Honesty) I had resolved to not fake any aspect of my personality under any circumstances, and she responded well. She was a psych major so we had many meta conversations about male and female relationships which were very fun. I was arguing for redpill at the time, and she thought pretty much all notions were ridiculous.
I liked her because she was strong-willed, intelligent, and wasn't afraid to suggest places for dates, which I was told women pretty much NEVER do. And she was also a very feminine-girly type, extremely submissive in bed, and let me be sweet to her and pay for things like I wanted (I always told her she never owed me anything for it)
Just throwing this out there in case anyone else can relate to my experiences. I'm coming off of redpill slowly, but still actively avoiding relationships with women
