I wanted to scope the type of relationship that red pillers (and even female misandrists I suppose) have/had with their father. I would think that there is a common theme going on here.

For me:

As a child I loved my father and he made an effort to play with me and such. He was supportive of our family and mother, and aside from the occasional expected hiccup, never had a real issue.

I would say that by mid-teens time, I was becoming skeptical of him. By college and more-or-less around the time of TRP discovery, I was beginning to realize that while he was supporting us financially, he wasn't someone I could look up to, and not a father figure. He never spent any time bettering himself, never taught me genuine skills or advice (I had to do all that myself), and overall radiated 'contentment' with what he had been doing for nearly 20 years.

In my eyes, he became a mule to my mother with "yes dear" and "happy wife, happy life" becoming the running theme. Few friends, barely a social life, no hobbies, and devoid of personality. To be clear, he was running his business successfully for nearly 20 years and allowed us to be more than comfortable financially. He was not under stress to work and was pretty much semi-retired by his fifties.

I would rather die than turn into my father, and that is why I think TRP appealed to me the most. The lack of a confident, strong, father-figure who instilled the values of self-discipline and self-improvement. I had to learn all of these values for myself from external sources. He and I still get along well, but there isn't much to talk about anymore aside from the superficial.
