In his speculative non-fiction book Homo Deus, the author Harari points out that an existing technology like in-vitro fertilization combined with near future technology of extrapolating physical features of each fertilized egg from its DNA, means that parents will be able to pick the attributes of their children from the combinations available. Assuming all parents select for features like intelligence & looks, this artificial selection pressure can lead to very similar looking supermodels within a few generations, what Harari calls the "creepy outcome". Given the perceived edge this offers their kids, in-vitro fertilization with designer babies will become the norm than the exception.
