Do we even know? As a man, the older I get, the less sure I am what I really want from a woman in a relationship. When I was younger I thought it was sex, but since I can take care of my "needs" without involving anyone, that's not really it. I don't think it is intimacy & connection either. Nothing wrong with these, and it's fun to read about in a romance fiction, but that doesn't quite seem what is missing. The closest explanation that makes sense is validation, but I don't know if it is even a single thing.

I feel like Neo in the 3rd Matrix movie, when Agent Smith asks him, "Why do you get out of bed everyday, Mr. Anderson? Why? Why? Do you even know?"
