Bullshit. First things first, she didn't do "a study", she wrote a book. I could not find her original source, but if it's not coming from a peer reviewed, published study then it's not counting. Rather, a book is made to be sensationalist and sell, which is exactly what comes to mind with this.

As a matter of fact, it would be strikingly odd if women were hypergamous, given that every study conducted on it has been showing that men and women have practically the same standards for marriage, and little to no difference for long term relationships. It's only for short term hook ups that there's a clear pattern of difference. Namely men being way less selective than women.

Here's a very telling (actual published and peer reviewed) study:

Todd, 2007 Analyzed mate choice on actual real life speed dating and found that while men just try to match with whoever, women chose men that are paralel to their own physical attractivness.

Although women's actual choices, like men's, did not reflect their stated preferences, they made more discriminating choices: They appeared to be aware of the importance to men of their own physical attractiveness, and they used their self-perception to adjust their aspiration level and picked only a few men with traits that matched their own desirability as a mate. (...) As a consequence, it is more adaptive for women to take into account how likely potential mates are to be committed to them and hence aim for mates of similar quality, instead of simply aiming for the most attractive mates.

Somewhat unrelated/related queiston. I have recently seen femininity channels (which I assume are like alpha male channels for women) talking about hypergamy and how they can use it or even should they. So, could this mwan that women see hypergamy as an option to "follow their nature" or just as an self made option to better their lives?
