Cope means you are giving excuses for your lack of whatever things you don't have

An example is "Im short but I make up for it in personality!"

Incels would say "COPE bro women only care about looks"

So essentially cope is making up excuses that make you feel better about the reality of the situation, but I personally think everyone copes in life and its healthy to do so. If you never cope you are essentially living a nihilistic life. We cope in mourning and death and also when we get rejected too, its a valid and healthy thing to do.

They've come to an flawed conclusion about the world and are therefore selling incorrect advice. The only people it benefits are the guys that have already bought the flawed conclusion.

It's not really slang, just using the word "cope". Coping with the harsh reality of things by coming up with something that feels good but isn't all that true.

Whenever I've come across it, it seems to be used in a "life's a shit sandwich, deal with it" sort of sense. I have mostly encountered it from troll types in a context like:

Person A: *says something racist/homophobic/sexist/cruel*

Person B: "Hey, that's not cool."

Person A: "Cope."

In my experience, it's generally used to try to shut someone out of a conversation, to avoid taking accountability for hurtful things that are said/done, or to shut down conversation that might lead to actual emotional vulnerability.

I think cope has two meanings. First is to accept bad, unfair things in life and your disadvantages. Second is to invent stories to comfort yourself and to feel that your situation is not that bad. You ask do people want to commit suicide because they are not attractive? Yes, some of them want and I understand them. In most cases it's not about inability to sleep with many women. It's about not being able to connect to someone at least. Attractiveness is given at birth, so it's logical that people, who lack this gift, see no other option.

Almost certainly. They're akin to a suicide pact in my eyes. It's like a major depression funnel. In a lot of ways you become what you expose yourself to. Please stay away.

Absolutely. Especially if they keep consuming "content" they trust that brainwashes them into it. The topic is just an instance of a cause, it's the perceived hopelessness of the situation that makes you do it. It's rooted in the original cause, it just turns into something completely different on the way. So the cause itself is replaceable, it can be anything.

Growing up it can sometimes seem that way, but if you think about how long life actually is, that's not exactly a sustainable effort and thereby must fail the longterm perspective check.

It's event based pleasure dependency, i.e. hedonism. It's nothing new, and people always suffered the consequences of thinking it's a good idea. Philosophy loves wisdom, sophistry marketing.
