Sorry to break it down to you, but recently, anything talking about "porn addiction" smells fishy. To begin, theres no such thing labeled as a medical disorder, although it is considered as a simptom of compulsive behaviour stemming from a preexisting, different condition. Porn does not cause it.

The moment I read "excess dopamine", "reward center" or "dopamine release", I saw the red flags dtemming from the typical pseudo biology the No Fao movement loves to preach around.

There's no such thing as excess dopamine, your body has the dopamine it needs, and a significant decrease of it may result in illnesses like Parkinson. Its ALWAYS in your brain, you don't release it or shut it down. There's no such thing as "dopamine detox" since it doesn't even work that way.

Endorphines are what produce pleasure and the reward sensation, not dopamine, which only prepares your body in advance to stimuli....which happens literally all the time with both pleasure and pain, with even the most nimble things such as smelling grass. Trying to negate such body functions is asinine.

No-Fap and Anti-Porn pseudo-biology stem from the same trunk as the Red Pill: Manosphere quack pseudo science fellas love to believe because it makes them feel good and allows them to always blame their problems on anything but themselves....or the toxic aspects of masculinity they love to deny.

Nofap is just a form of an anti-sex morality. There are no benefits in doing it, you'll only get more and more frustrated. You'll lose more energy in trying to not masturbate than doing it for just a few minutes when you feel like it. But of course, if someone does PMO 7-10 times a day, in that case there is an addiction, and the frequency should be decreased. And naturally some kinds of porn are not the best to watch, but it's just fiction. You don't become a jedi or a sith by watching star wars... Many nofappers just blame porn and masturbation as the absolute evil and close their eyes in front of the real problems of their life.

As someone who was, or is weening(no pun intended) himself from that stuff, I can 100% agree that porn messes up your thinking, motivation and biology.

I can clearly remember my behaviour before and after my addiction. Porn makes you unmotivated, irritated, un focused and weird. Girls especially can pick up on the weird vibe porn addicts give off. It’s like they can see it in your eyes, the desperation and thirst.

Now for guys that actually get laid porn messes up your sex life and can ruin it. Do you know how many girls I was having sex with only to go soft? I couldn’t cum during sex for years, girls would even feel bad coz they thought it was them.

This all changed when I decided not to watch porn for 9 days. You know what happened? A girl gave me oral sex and I c*me on the spot.

STOP WATCHING THIS STUFF AND MASTURBATING TO IT IMMEDIATELY!!!

With all due respect, but its kinda hard to take you seriously when you sound so much like a 16 yr old kid making up a story of success to gain online validation....which I suspect is the case for the majority of the No Fap community. A lot of people still watch porn with no problem at all, which means the main problem is the individual.

And even if its true, maybe your actual problem was that you spent way too much time in front of a screen, eating improperly, not exercising, wasting too much energy...and had mental blocks you tried to cope with by watching porn, which may suggest it was just a symptom and not the cause.

It is of my opinion that pornography will be age restricted once digital is comes out.

The modern science is very clear that pornography is not only the highest type of dopamine producing behaviour (second is social media scrolling use) but also the most mentally damaging as it requires your brain; changes your neuro pathways and due to tolerance can end you up in jail for watching criminal content which is what most child porn users and offenders do.

I used to be an addict (watched 8 hours a day) of adult content and quit when I saw my life spiralling and the content getting worse.

I still relapse now and then so 100 can confirm all this.

I don’t know about the rest of this, but if you’re watching 8 hours of the same type of content a day whether it’s porn or Rollo videos, you’ve got a serious issue.

I don’t do that anymore. I did.

But I’m also a genius and managed to still get an honours degree with an average mark of 80. But it did cause me to lose a lot of financial opportunities.

I think I did it because I was mostly bored and had a super libido. (Still do)

On top of all that I still had a bustling social and sex life and it did slowly became unnecessary.

I eventually got engaged to my partner at the time but we broke it off because I wanted to stay in Toronto to go to my dream school and she wanted to go back home in a long distance country.

But for what the relationship was it was great.
