This literally just happened to me and I left the guy on read when he offered a drink date. But he only offered a drink date after he told me he had nothing planned for me.. texted me. The best he came up with was drinks.. he also said that I want to do girlfriend things with him and he usually reserves movies,dinner dates for only his girlfriends. So I just ghosted him because I felt that first he said he has no plans then I ask me on a drink date seemed very low effort.

I don't see the difference between coffee as a first date and alcoholic drinks as a first date. Honestly I don’t like drinking in public with someone I don’t know so I’d rather do coffee. Both seem low effort to me though.
