Yikes. That is why women need to be so careful about sharing anything related to mental health or past traumas with men. They will weaponize it against you.

My ex-husband used to do this kind of thing. It not only made me more traumatized, but it triggered a lot of my past traumas much worse. I never told him about my traumas, however, my mother ended up doing so during a casual conversation when it was just those two, so unfortunately that secret of sorts came out. That's when it became ammunition.

He used to compare himself to mr. Peanut butter from BoJack Horseman but that's not much of a compliment, considering his character and manipulative nature.

It's very covert narc abuse. The fact that he had an ex who committed suicide is unsettling. While I won't completely blame him or point fingers, it's definitely insidious and makes me question how bad it was before hand. A lot of covert narcs will drop subtle information like that and never get into it; on one hand it's the kind of thing you don't really get into, but on another hand it's a way to evade accountability to her deteriorating mental health.

I'm glad you got out of it. Sorry for the long response...just know you aren't at fault and we are a safe space. With the tactics he used on you, it can make leaving so much harder because it's always sugar coated and makes you really question your perception. Much love. 💕

I'm so sorry. My STBX husband would do things like this. Plus he would lie to me and then be all, "OMG, we talked about this? You don't REMEMBER?! You're really that sick?!"

I was literally diagnosed with schizophrenia and heavily medicated because of it. Thankfully I'm off all medication now and healthy but he even tried to do it twice while we were negotiating the divorce. I just calmly said, "I'm healthy now, that's not going to work anymore." and he rolled right back into the negotiations like nothing had happened. Mind blowing.

I am so glad you are out of that relationship. It is absolutely abuse. And it's just evil. A person has to be evil to get off on doing this crap to another human being.
