I was asked on three "first dates" to mcdonalds when I was on OLD. I declined them all and a little but after it happened my sister and I went to get coffee. A woman and her girl friend, both around my age, were in front of me in a pretty long line. She was so frustereated telling her friend how she's struggling with dating apps and went out with a guy for the gym and then mcsonalds afterwards as their "first date". I was so appalled. Let me tell how ridiculous it looked and sounded hearing her talk about this gym / mcdonalds "date". She was prettier and in great shape and had her hair and nails done! And she's venting to her friend that she doesn't know what she did wrong or if she should see him again. Her friend was telling her that the gym part must have been awkward and didn't understand the mcdonalds part but saying give him a chance type of pickme nonsense. Having them in front of me was like looking into a mirror and seeing how ridiculous I must have looked accepting low effort dates and giving clowns chances in the past!

This guy who i recently posted about in the weekly chat so hes fresh on my mind (tldr bad, pushy hookup in college) asked me on a proper date once to a BBQ place because he had a gift card. I told him I was a vegetarian. He was like "ah ok" and that was it.

Realizing how much of a bullet I dodged back then.

Oh dear god. I was asked out on a date years ago and I hadn’t been on a one in a while, so I was super excited.

I went out and bought a new black dress and heels. I meet up with the guy, feeling great, and he walks me into fucking McDonald’s.

I was in absolute shock. I’m standing in line in my cocktail dress and heels in pure embarrassment. And get this, when he got to the counter and ordered, his card was DECLINED. He had to ask me to pay for his chicken nuggets.

I immediately walked out and walked home. I told him I was leaving and he had the audacity to ask me if he could come up to my apartment!

When I got inside my apartment, I’d realised he’d snuck his sunglasses into my handbag!! I got a text asking to meet up again so he could get his sunglasses back. Fuck no. I kept his shitty sunglasses.

And no, I wasn’t a teenager. We were 28. A grown man took me to McDonald’s. It was hands down the worst date I’ve ever been on.

I spent the night crying in bed eating nuggets out of a McDonald’s bag. Dreadful.
