I’ve met 5 people off tinder in the past 2 years and I don’t have any regrets about any of them. 1 was a relationship, 1 was fwb, 2 were vacation hook ups and mini tour guides, and 1 just a really good date in a foreign country. I mostly use apps when I’m on vacation just to see what’s there and talk to locals and those ONs predate me applying FDS so I don’t think I would be doing ONs again.

Main thing is I’m just super picky when I swipe in general tbh (maybe 1 right to dozens and dozens of left) and I’m generous for myself with unmatching, ghosting and blocking when I see anything that’s even a bit iffy of a red flag. I have probably never swiped right on a guy based without thoroughly looking at their pics and bio.

I honestly think apps are a mixture of pure luck and being mindful. If he’s bland in text then drop it. I think the way I text just helps me naturally have good convos. If a guy is complaining about girls on the app or girls in general in his profile— left. If he has some dead animal— immediate left. Political views I detest— left. Men really be doing your favours most of the time outlining stuff that might be on your personal Big No No lists. I’m not trying to be “open minded” and charitable at the expense of myself

I usually download the app and delete it within a few hours to a few days so I can’t speak to the longterm experience but I think you gotta have good intuition and knowing specifically what you like in a guy to be able to navigate the apps to your best use.

For my own profile I usually write a bio with a short funny story (a sentence or two) or I list some unique stuff I like. For pictures I have face and body pics but end of the day it’s not a huge deal when it comes to girls what your profile really looks like but I think if you tailor it to yourself you’ll be presenting yourself more truthfully and men can show themselves to be low effort or not more clearly by how they respond to you. Remember the fds motto about how men would fuck a mchicken so men swiping right on you means nothing of substance.

That said I don’t think you should post any “sexy” pics like men are degenerates and in replies I try to hold back a bit cause I’m not trying to get posted all over the internet with my face and name when it comes to funny banter. Don’t ever waste time arguing with a guy or replying to negging just unmatch. If you aren’t feeling anything don’t force yourself just cause you think you should have a date or go see someone. If a guy isn’t asking you out within a few days don’t bother putting in big effort talking back with him. When you go on a date just common safety tips about sending your location to a friend and having someone who will text you or call at a certain time. Check out r/tinder to see what the common opening pick up lines are so you can be grounded about the fact that there’s a chance that line he tried he’s copy pasting to every girl possible. I personally like guys that comment on my listed interests and same time I get a lot of guys who try to compliment me by putting down other girls for not being into x y z and it’s not cute to me.

Sometimes it works. Proceed with an abundance of caution and low expectations. Stay skeptical for at least 2-3 months.

I feel like there should be a meta post about online dating for this forum.

LVM are everywhere. Online and offline. There is no guarantee that you will find some magical pool of HVM that you'll be able to pick a partner from. Life sucks so we're all forced to sift through the LVM trash just to find some HVM candidates. We live in an excessively degenerate world. It's frustrating and heartbreaking but it is what it is. HVM do use online dating but they are either looking for a woman on a level that you've not yet achieved, their type of woman which you are not or they weren't on the app long enough for you to meet them in the first place.

Luck has a lot to do with it. Some people get lucky and by that I mean that it just so happens that they cross paths more often with HVM than they do LVM. There is no formula for this outside of "destiny". Everyone is just going on about their lives. 7 billion people on the planet. You will find HVMs at some point along that journey and you will be better equipped to spot them if you're not wasting time on LVMs and also better chances of securing them if you're what they're needing in a partner. Luck does not mean you are without agency so don't by into that. That's why we're all here on FDS.

Well, it can be positive if you enjoy fuckboys but if you don't, you will be disappointed. Most apps are more or less the same. You will need to invest a lot of your time to get what you want I guess.

Bumble is a TOTAL waste of time. I used Hinge, OkCupid, Match and Tinder. Was most successful with Match.
