I've always passed on those guys. And I think at one point, out of boredom, I started replying to every man who didn't have a disgusting profile and I still didn't meet anyone worth talking to. I just mimic their low effort if I respond at all. Eventually they call me boring and disappear. I think I may try this again in the new year in the hopes of some good dates even if the men are awful. I expect even with effort and no major judgment on my part, I won't go on many actual dates.

I've been on Tinder for all of two weeks now and I'm fully ready to pull the plug. The messages have been borderline worthless. I'd say 30 percent immediately ask for an outside contact number. The majority are just looking for a hook up. Most guys haven't put effort in beyond a "hey what's up". And the one guy I have good banter with got quiet and disappeared once I suggested going on a date. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I put humour and effort into my profile. There are at least a dozen things in there they could ask about. Nope. Just more LVMs expecting me to come over to their house and fuck them.

This has been the...most demoralizing aspect of trying to have a conversation and it's worse on Bumble where ladies HAVE to send the first message. Bumble shades you like "is 'Hi" the best you can do?" Yeah, after some time on their app, it is. I've tried opening with something based on their profile (*) or just generally greet them, it doesn't matter because I am more likely than not to receive the text version of non-engaged grunting as a response i.e. NM, hru/wyd/wbu.

*=that is if they even have something on their profile to begin with. I see a lot of blank profiles and "Want to know anything, just ask." Honestly now that I think about it, Bumble's whole deal is upside down. I understand wanting to protect women from the kind of grossness prevalent on other apps but it still doesn't do much to ask more from their male subscribers.

eta: i don't match with blank/just ask profiles cause that's a big ol "i can't be bothered to communicate" flag

Nothing beats genuine interest. And you can tell from the beginning who is genuine or not.

But dating apps are often a waste of time.

I do the same. Almost all guys who send me a message only write shit like "hi" or "hello". Like that they just tell me that they think I am not worth the time to type even a full sentence, so they aren't worth my time to reply to them.

I only consider those who send me a full text, that doesn't sound copied and pasted.
