Stoicism. You should check it out. To summarize, it aims to teach you to accept that you cannot control external events, only your own perception and responses to these events. There are a lot of techniques like negative visualization (visualizing negative scenarios that could happen to you) in order to mentally prepare yourself for the inevitable setbacks of life. There is also learning to distinguish the things that are not in your control and why it is meaningless to worry about such things. …

I started studying and practicing philosophy and it’s helped me more than therapy ever has. I just don’t think I have the right personality type to glean much value from therapy, and I’m glad I found something else that works for me.

You can find some real nice gems thrifting. I’ve similarly tried to turn away from ridiculously low quality clothes while staying on a budget. My closet is mostly: Madewell, UNIQLO, American Eagle, and J Crew. And I have Third Love bras exclusively (they are so nice and they go up sizes by half cup so you can achieve a really accurate fit).

Knowing when and how to spend money is an actual skill that requires experience, tact, etiquette, etc. Even when I was a broke college student, I knew the etiquette behind going out with friends, picking up rounds, tipping well, and not letting money hamper my relationship with others. There’s a certain age where it becomes a bad look to nickel and dime people for things like $5 Uber rides and bags of chips. Don’t date a man who engages in this kind of behavior, to you or to his friends.

Yup. My mom is guilty of this. My childhood was challenging to say the least, and due to the fact that I never had a good example of a healthy relationship, I was in so many toxic ones for so many years. Finding FDS was like a breath of fresh air.

AITA for punishing my daughter for not coming to my wedding? I got married last weekend in my parent’s house which has been in the family for generations. For health reasons, only immediate family was there. My daughter(16F) had been calling her new stepmom (21F) names like home wrecker and prostitute and I have been patient with her. She assumes I left her late mother because she had breast cancer. However, I did not leave her mother for having cancer. Nobody decides to have cancer. However, he…

I’m doing ballet at home every day (usually an hour of barre, not enough room to do center work) and my usual stretches. I go out to roller skate when I’m feeling cooped up. I’ve been reading about philosophy and studying for a new career track. I’ve been cleaning, organizing, and purging.

I’ve learned to keep men at arm’s length in my professional and personal life because they always end up wanting to sleep with me. For me, there is no such thing as just meeting male friends on a night out and going to get lunch or a drink platonically. They always want more. I’ll stick with my girlfriends for now.

I wasn’t drinking for a week because I was taking antibiotics after getting a tooth extracted. A guy online invited me out, and I said I wasn’t drinking alcohol that week but that I’d be fine getting a ginger beer or something nonalcoholic. He refused to see me, and insisted that we see each other when I could drink because it would be “more fun” that way. I said whatever, went on the date once I was able to drink again with the intention of getting a few free drinks and ghosting him at the end …

I’m attracted to intelligence, but I need the trifecta. Intelligence + no arrogance + doesn’t let his field define him. I’ve met many brilliant men but when they let their brilliance in one specific field define their entire being, they’re rather uninteresting.

Don’t know what the illustrator intended, but this is totally a burn to men, not to women. Most of us will stay single and that speaks more about men’s inability to be decent, functioning human beings than it does about our supposed “high standards.” Also, I would love to have a group of girlfriends to porch sit and drink wine with in my old age. 😍 Sounds like a dream.

Number one is spot on. If a man is too coward to approach you, how will he provide and protect for your family one day? Life’s gonna give challenges that are way more insane than going up to talk to a woman, that if he can’t even muster that, it ain’t worth it sis. Unfortunately, men have been made soft by the advent of online dating. Most of them are too emotionally feeble to even face the prospect of rejection in real life so they don’t even try. Emotional intelligence should be a must on everyone’s list. There’s a word in my mother tongue for it as well, which basically means a combination quick/sharp wit and EQ. It’s a travesty that we’re not taught to prioritize this quality more in a partner.

Libfems will tell you that they’re empowered. It’s like they’re completely out of touch with reality. We don’t live in an ideal world, we live in the one we live in. Being propped up in a glass case to be ogled at and chosen like a cut of meat is empowering? I think not.

You know what tells you right off the bat that he’s a HVM? He’s more excited and overjoyed than she is that they’re going to prom together. You can tell from his laughter and smiles and the way he holds her after she realizes that she’s being asked to prom. He didn’t do this out of reluctance, obligation, or pity, only out of sheer desire. Only be with a man who’s excited and overjoyed to be with you. Anything less is selling yourself short.

I was out to dinner with my ex (I know, bad move right off the bat), and he got drunk, lost his temper, and I just walked right out the door before any of the food had actually arrived to the table. I’ve been too embarrassed to go back to that restaurant ever since. Have no idea how that night ended (was he sober enough to pay the bill? Did they box up the food? Did he cause them trouble?) I don’t wanna know. Ugh so cringe.

I’ve made this a personal rule as well. Whenever I sit at bars alone I see that men look at me, many of them multiple times, but very few approach. It used to frustrate me, but now I consider it LVM weeding themselves out. If they don’t have the balls to approach a woman, how will they be a provider and protector for a family one day? Hell nah.

Back in the early days, Hinge didn’t just let you invite the other person to start a chat, they required a message. Probably figured they could make more money by letting LVM get a pass on that. Not surprised.

You have a lot of good ones! I think an important one of mine is a man who is not desperate for sex. The difference is like night and day. Men who aren’t desperate for sex are down to ask you if you wanna order dessert or another round of drinks instead of trying to usher you back to their apartment. They don’t try to make unnecessary physical contact with you all night to hint at what they want. You can tell they’re content to having a good conversation with you without having to slowly concoct…

So many red flags here. I wonder how she even knows that he told his parents about her? Is there proof? Has she met them and introduced herself as his gf? Cause if not, I wouldn’t trust they know. Also, I don’t know if it’s woke or not woke to say that certain cultures and religions in the world are patriarchal and prejudiced to an extreme degree. I know love is love, but think about what you’re trying to marry into and how you will be treated as an outsider.

When you look at the caricature of a woman that is deemed attractive now, it’s absolutely insane that men can think they’re more repressed by beauty standards than we are. Just go on Instagram and tell me how ludicrous it is that all women are expected to have giant butts, big boobs but never saggy, full thighs with a thigh gap, tiny waist, sex doll lips, tiny nose, a lifted brow, and long, luscious hair that can somehow withstand color and heat damage until the ends of time. We just want men to…

After you give birth, you bleed for a very long time. You definitely don’t wanna be stuck with an LVM who won’t get up with the baby at nights, yells at you for staining the sheets, and won’t run to the store to get pads for you while you’re trying to heal from pushing a literal human being out of you.

The problem with male feminists is that they need attention and praise for being feminists. They would do more good to do their fair share of housework, play an equal part in raising their children, telling their male friends to do the same, etc. but those are quiet and boring activities. Can’t glean attention for being such a good little male feminist by, I dunno, actually doing the things that feminists are demanding. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I appreciate the message but, as an Asian woman, this post rubs me the wrong way. We’ve been contending with this nearly all our lives. We’re well aware of what to look out for and the signs of being fetishized. We’ve dealt with the stereotypes all our lives. With all due respect, we don’t need a white woman telling us this and exclaiming that this was some sort of useful PSA. Maybe it wasn’t your intention, but it comes across as preachy and insinuates that we don’t know any better.

This is true. Look at Japan and their low birth rate crisis. Scrotes on Reddit keep championing Japan as a MGTOW haven, but that’s not what’s happening. The women there are refusing to put up with Japanese men and the social disadvantages of being a married woman (giving up her career, birthing children, etc.) not the other way around. I fucking bet if all Japanese women lowered their standards to nothing, marriage and birth rates would be on the rise.

Baby fat is a misnomer, cause I swear you don’t start losing it until well into your adulthood! I thought I’d start losing it around 20, but it actually took until 26-27.

I wouldn’t say my mom is a pick me, but her lack of confidence and defeatist attitude led her to the complacency that kept her in a terrible marriage rife with emotional, physical, and financial abuse. I can’t respect her or her advice because she didn’t make the right decisions for herself and her children when it was most crucial.

Even Tinder circa 7-8 years ago was leaps and bounds better than it is now. The more and more users it gains, the shittier the dating platform becomes. You can see this progression happen with every single dating app that becomes popular (ex: Hinge is slowly on its way there though it’s not yet turned into the cesspool that Tinder is). And the companies have become masters at “game-ifying” the apps to make them game-like aka addicting. I’m sorry, but I just can’t be satisfied finding my life par…

Deleted all of mine six months ago and never went back. I’ve never even had the urge. I think the last few interactions I had was a guy that flipped out at me because I refused a second date, and another dude who did something at music venues that kept trying to get me to come to a show while he was working under the guise of it being a date (dude how more low value could you get than inviting a girl to come meet you while you’re working?) Nothing but garbage.

It’s an extremely vulnerable and frightening time in a woman’s life to gestate new life and we really have execs of health insurance companies deciding who lives and dies like brood mares?? This needs to stop now.

So true. Older generations of men were entitled to disenfranchised women who did not have the means to be financially independent. Women gained the right to have and use credit in the 70’s (fucking crazy). We’re living in the first generation of women that have the option not to be with men, and when you look at the declining marriage and birth rates of developed nations, it’s no surprise women are choosing to be alone. If you place this much importance on sex, I doubt you’re going to be efficient in finding a HVM. You’re clinging onto a guy who threatened to break up with you because he gives good dick. Evo psych aggravates me because men use it to excuse their bad behavior. They say they can’t help but to have to follow Instagram thots and check out other women and try to cheat because iTs bIoLoGy. On one hand, we can use it to be wary of men’s true nature, but on the other hand, men are using it to excuse their bad habits. A high value career does not equal HVM. If you look at the research that says CEOs are more likely to have psychopathic tendencies, it makes sense. I think your biggest problem is that you reveal too much. HVWs get what they want through actions, not requests. You need to act like the type of woman who deserves the best which will clue him into the fact he needs to rise up to the occasion, rather than having to request the best of him. Same goes for wanting to be the first thing on his mind when he wakes up. There’s nothing wrong with wanting that, but you should never have to say that out loud. I get a lot of guys who say they like my tattoos, but I think I just have good taste lol. I always make sure the designs are ones that will age well (like is this something I’d enjoy having on my body when I’m geriatric??) and they all have a story behind them or mean something to me (which are also great conversation starters). I’ve also fronted some serious cash to get them done by amazing artists. If it’s a tattoo, spending the extra money is almost always worth it.

Yes Reddit, keep linking us, keep doing our dirty work. The more they link, the more women find us. They probably have this idea that women will come here and mock our strategies, but what ends up happening is most women come here, start reading, realize they’ve experienced nearly all the things we’re trying to strategize away from, and become members. 😂

I’m sure it varies by state. I live in CA and you can get a summary dissolution if you’ve been married less than five years, have no kids together, and no joint assets. And it just includes filing some paperwork (don’t even need it notarized) and paying a fee (no court date, divorce decree mailed to you in six months).

Ditto on getting shot. I’ve had men fly off the handle when I told them I didn’t want to continue seeing them any longer. As much as I hate to do it, ghosting is the only method that makes it plausible for a man to believe things just fizzled out due to outside circumstances, rather than him having to hear you explain what his defect is and (possibly) reacting badly to soothe his bruised ego.

Yes! I wanted to make a thread like this as well because I’ve been having problems with going on first dates with guys I should’ve vetted out of my life well before it even got to the point of me going out with them. I’m not a big texter (I usually don’t text at all between meeting a guy for the first time until our first date) so I basically do very minimal vetting. That’s gonna have to change. Ideally I wanna know things about his employment, living situation, and politics which are my hard de…

I can't stand women like this. My husband proposed to me last Christmas with a simple ring that I liked and essentially picked out some time before. I was beyond excited and happy when he proposed. The man could have given me the twisty tie off of some bread and I would have said yes. My bitch coworker said that anything less than 2-3 carats and not Tiffany's isn't worth her time and effort. It took every ounce of my being not to snap back at her that she's single (and still is!) for a reason. O…

I blame how many pickmeishas there are on the prevalence of poor parenting. Nearly all the women I know in my life have problems with confidence because of how they were mistreated as children by those nearest and dearest to them. Then they find an easy source of security and value from being the “cool girl” and getting the shallow, short-lived praise that comes with that. And then they fall into a sense of normalcy with the guy that’s “fun” and “nice enough” without ever realizing that the fact…

Check out tagyoursponsor.com There’s some low key misogynistic vibes coming off the site, but it highlights the problem well. There is no shortage of wanna be influencers willing to be exploited if it means they have a shot at being the next Kylie Jenner. And this is why I don’t use Instagram.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/12/19 02:14 AM

It’s not an immediate from who. It’s the potential to monetize it at some point. They rack up followers by posting more and more content, until one day a sponsor flies them out to Dubai (where they take more pics on yachts to maintain their influencer image) or they get offered a sponsorship deal from a hack weight loss pill or the like. They don’t give a fuck about LVM as long as they’re boosting their numbers enough to get them noticed by the high rollers.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, in 90% of cases of having children, women have nothing to gain. Unless you really have the burning desire to raise a child, you’ve secured the bag, and you know without a doubt that you have a HVM who will remain a HVM (which is impossible to know because a man’s true nature can change anytime especially after the first kid gets popped out), DON’T HAVE KIDS. Only do things that you stand to benefit from.

I just don’t understand the entitlement. I’ve gone long stretches of time without dating because money (for a sitter for my child) was an issue. To any male lurkers, if you can’t afford to date, don’t. You’re not entitled to dating. I’ve spent $100 to pay for a sitter to go and be disappointed by some dude at a bar multiple times. This reminds me of a male gynecologist that insisted on doing a pelvic exam (put his fingers inside me) before he would prescribe me antibiotics for a UTI. I’ve never had that done to me for a UTI, usually just a urine sample to check for infection and some questions about fever, lower back pain, etc. to see if the infection has spread. I still question to this day if there really was a medical need for that or if he just wanted to do that.

Agreed. Being a sugar baby isn't necessarily glamorous. Sugaring exists on a spectrum of sex work. Some sugar babies do end up finding their life partners and marrying into a good life, but that is exceedingly rare. You can be asexual and still find other people attractive. Aesthetic attraction is different than sexual attraction. Been seriously questioning whether I’m asexual as well, or if I just haven’t met anyone worth having sex with. I know the latter is definitely true, but it’s been so long that I just don’t think I’m ever going to meet anyone I’d enjoy having sex with. Does that mean I’m asexual? I dunno. I think what separates high value people in general vs low value people is a sense of entitlement that shapes their perception of the world around them. Low value men and women have a sense of entitlement of things they don’t deserve. It never crosses their mind to work for the things that they want, and when they realize they’re not getting the things they feel entitled to, they become bitter and feel like the world is against them. Ugh I’m sorry you went through that. It’s honestly such a common experience for women to have men react rudely or even violently when rejected. Men have no shame, and will go to the lowest of the low if they think they can hurt you just cause their precious ego wasn’t coddled. And then they turn around and cry to the internet about how “not straightforward” women are, how they get ghosted, how lonely they are, and other self victimization bullshit.

Agreed. I’ve heard about too many stories of men dumping their gfs who were their ride or dies while they were working on themselves. Once they make it, they couldn’t care less about who was there supporting them along the way. All they care about then is that their options have opened up. He looks older than his age, and it’s no surprise. Men don’t age well. When’s the last time you met a guy that talked about what sunscreen he uses every day and what his skin care routine is? Yep, thought not. Eventually all the sun damage, stripping your skin of moisture with cheap bars of soap, alcohol consumption, cigarettes, late nights, etc. catch up to them, and when it does, it damn near happens all at once.

It’s unpleasant, but the only way these assholes learn is if you make a scene. I have the same problem. If I’m in a bar with like fifty people, I might find 1 or 2 men attractive enough to be interested in. And then from there, it’s quite possible I find both of their personalities unattractive. And this is why I stay single.

Do they think that kind of response makes them look good? I really want to know. 😂 Is it not obvious to them that they come across as entitled pieces of shit when they say stuff like that?

The only tragedy with MGTOW is that they just won’t leave us the fuck alone. What happened to going their own way?? Please stop paying us this unwanted attention.

This is why I date men who don’t use social media. I don’t use Instagram either. I’ve never seen it bring out the good in anyone.

Women like that are just as much at fault as the men who behave like this. Enablers are not our allies.

I have one kid, and will not birth anymore for any other man that I ever meet. It’s just not worth it. I believe there are some women who make it work by getting married, having the children, being doted on even into old age, etc. but that is the exception and not the rule. There are many women who get stuck with the brunt of custody and woefully small child support payments (if any). There are women who devote decades into raising their children only to have their husbands cheat on them with pi…

Yes ladies. No more excuses. Why do we live in a society where a man’s baggage gives him leeway to act however he wants, but a woman’s baggage makes her “undesirable” or “complicated?” Hell nah. If you’re dealing with a dude that won’t give his all because some other woman treated him like garbage, drop him like a meth habit. And start questioning why exactly these men were treated like garbage before.

Wow everything she says is so true. Men will always go after what feels good to them, and if that’s you, it will be crystal clear he’s trying to take you off the market and make sure no other man can have you. If he has a bunch of excuses about why he can’t (won’t) be with you, it’s because you’re not what he wants, and you need to drop him and keep it moving. Also, subscribed. This woman is amazing.

Women who are unmarried and childless are the happiest people of all, according to a professor of behavioral science Don’t threaten me with a good time. 😂

Lol at the cop out: Men decide to be a shitty person, that’s just one decision. Women decide to sleep with a shitty man, keep the pregnancy, have the baby, etc., that’s multiple decisions. Multiple is greater than one, so women are at fault! As if the man choosing to have sex, choosing not to use a condom, choosing to abandon their child, choosing not to pay support (in some cases actively avoiding the government finding them) are not multiple decisions. Lol omg they’re delusional. 😂

If you’d be depressed without having someone, you definitely need to learn to be alone. A man does not complete you. A man does not give you happiness you wouldn’t otherwise have alone. A relationship is when you wholeheartedly love yourself and someone happens to share in that experience with you. If you’re depressed when you’re alone, it means you don’t love yourself right now, and that’s fine. But it is something you’re going to have to work through alone. Don’t be dependent on others because…

If I have to read about one more man that says they just “can’t cook” I’m going to lose my mind. Do they think women come out of the womb knowing how to cook?! Buy some pots, pans, a cookbook, and turn your fucking stove on.

It’s such a shame that sending naked pics has become so normalized for young women that it’s almost become a societal expectation in the dating game. No man you’re getting to know for the first time is worth it, ladies. I immediately lose respect for and ghost the men who even ask for one.

I’ve noticed this too. This coupled with the fact I had to grow up very quickly is the reason why I tend to only consider men who are 5-10 years older than me as relationship material. Also, the older I get, the more I find I’m able to date men close to my own age. And I feel like men begin to split into two camps as they get older- 1) The men who wise up and realize that emotional maturity, introspection, self-reflection, etc. are important and necessary in being a functioning human being 2) Th…

After enduring my father for years, my mother told me that if reincarnation is a real thing and she’s born again into a next life, she is not getting married again. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

The kicker is, he called and asked me if we were definitely over before asking him to marry her! Wow I feel so bad for his wife. He’s not fit to be the gum stuck to the bottom of someone’s shoe.

I just want a fuck buddy situation for awhile but don't know how to do it correctly cause my other fwb situations had so much drama without us being a title and I wanna do this one right. I don't know much about him You’re gonna have to get to know him a little better to determine whether he’s a good candidate for a drama free FWB situation. Hopefully by now you’ve learned what went wrong with your previous FWBs, and you’re gonna have to scope out this guy to make sure he doesn’t have the traits…

What do you know about him? Usually you meet someone with the intention of getting to know them. If you’re okay sleeping with him just on the sole basis that he’s good looking, but he turns out to be an asshole, you do you. But you’re barely gonna have time to talk to him seeing as he’ll be making drinks all night. He’ll most likely be flirting with other patrons all night because it kind of comes with the job. If you’re okay sitting on the sidelines and watching this go down for a few free drin…

Will he be working behind the bar when this meet up is supposed to happen?

As a bartender, I’m gonna tell you that a bar owner inviting you to come hang out at the bar he owns is low effort. He should be open to the idea of meeting somewhere else at the very least. You don’t want to meet him on his turf. You want to meet him on a level playing field.
