Deleted all of mine six months ago and never went back. I’ve never even had the urge.

I think the last few interactions I had was a guy that flipped out at me because I refused a second date, and another dude who did something at music venues that kept trying to get me to come to a show while he was working under the guise of it being a date (dude how more low value could you get than inviting a girl to come meet you while you’re working?)

I'm glad to see this sub taking the kid gloves off, when it comes to talking about the ugly reality of dating apps.

All the best to those using them, and I don't wish for couples who met off of dating apps to break up, just so I can prove my point. Just because a few are successful, doesn't change the fact that the vast majority are not successful. Dating apps lower both women and men's self-esteem, they are addictive and dehumanizing for everyone who uses them. But women take on all the risks. A lot of risk with the very small chance of reward. I don't know how or why people defend dating apps in 2020.

And you can't compare dating sites from 10-15 years ago to swiping apps now. So I don't take couples seriously, when they defend dating apps, because they met off of Match 15 years ago.

it's the single minded reduction of human beings to attributes, stats, numbers, posed/fake photos and one-liners that makes my blood boil. there's no nuance, there's no actual living and real interaction nor inference of genuine involvement being made. we've gamified human interaction to the point where our personalities must be condensed into a pithy, inane bio and our faces retouched and bodies on display as if self-proclaimed livestock in an auction. we have our self esteem destroyed, our ability to bond decimated - because now all OLD apps are, is the ability to engage in a prostitution-leaning online game full of swipes and jokes and cringe-worthy desperation for human interaction.

like honestly, i don't care how "conspiritard" it makes me sound but i'm standing by the fact OLD has heavy handed involvement in the destroying of the west. you're using a fucking sex app. if it's men who control your life enough to have you put yourself on display and get taken advantage of for 5 seconds of dopamine production, rethink why. if it's women who make you feel desperate enough to reduce a human to a swipe, rethink that. it's legitimately hellenistic-tier mental gymnastics. #deletedatingapps2020

This has been my mindset and have deleted my apps ages ago. It wasted so much of my time and I regret not using those hours on my personal development. However it did make me see what it was all about and the quality of guys that I meet there... so that one good thing that came out of it.

Maybe when I'm ready for it again. Maybe. For now I'm good. If someone in real life steps up and I like him, why not.

Good thing guys aren't as necessary as food for your survival and if you can't find the one to fit your taste, you can just make do without them. There's always the bare minimum of standards that must be passed, no matter what.

I installed OkCupid on my phone's second space for this exact reason. Out of the hundreds of guys I've swiped on, I only talk to one on a regular basis (we're friends). Dating (or even just having nice conversations) in a sexist country is tough. Not to mention the fact that all the messages I get are some variant of HI WYD HELLO BEUTIFL.
