How did it go with him?

For sure! It’s a pain to hear advice from an authority figure like a therapist that seeks to give another chance to someone who may not be deserving. I would say something short and sweet like, “Hey (name), I’m really hoping for a more intentional dating relationship than where we seem to be headed right now. I wish you the best in your search!”

Good point! This has happened to me too; good way to circumvent it

I personally prefer to both introduce a potential suitor to my friends and be introduced to his pretty early on. I feel like the company he keeps reveals a lot about his character because they say you’re a combination of the Top 5 people you spend the most time with. And I want my friends to meet him early because they say love is blind, but your neighbor isn’t.

The best of both worlds is a man whose intimidation of you comes from a place of realizing what a catch you are, not wanting to mess things up, but still ultimately shooting his shot!

I agree. FDS taught me how to date well and grow in self-confidence, and it was because of high-quality, essay-like strategy posts

Thank you so so so much for creating this change. I adore this sub, and it really helped me learn my worth and how to sift for quality in the dating world. But I’d stopped visiting for several months now because lately I’d feel bitter and in despair rather than encouraged and like I could level up with the content. I’m just so grateful you made this change; thank you mods

I think it is possible to meet people out in the wild, though admittedly as you said it’s rare for that to result in a relationship. The smile and extended eye contact is my green light signal as well. I honestly think that’s all you need.

I think there are things you can do to position yourself to meet good men (joining social or professional groups, volunteering, patronizing museums, etc.), but that at the end of the day there’s a lot of luck involved. I know several people who ended up in marriages with so-far HVM they met on ~Tinder~. I can’t keep Hinge on my phone for any longer than a week at a time because of scrub overload. 🤷🏿‍♀️

I agree. I had an interaction with an indecisive man on OLD the other day who kept saying something to the effect of, “I don’t care/we can do whatever you want.” And I fast forwarded to what I knew would come after that if I responded to the half-assed date setup… I’d end up dragging him to a place that I had to do the work of finding. So that we could have a half-assed conversation. So that he could breadcrumb me after. I genuinely wanted nothing to do with him at that point, so I left him on r…

Hmmm great points. Reminds me of a man I met earlier this summer who asked for my number then texted me his first and last name. I thumbsed up the text. and he was seething. “Wow, that’s seriously all you have to say lol?” Blocked.

Back in my pickmeisha era, I invited a guy I’d been crushing on to be my date to a wedding. He said yes, and I was thrilled! But it was a disaster for several reasons: -Everyone at the wedding thought he was my boyfriend, and I had to keep explaining that we weren’t together. Very embarrassing. -After the falsely romantic evening, I worked up the “courage” to call him and professs my feelings, asking if he felt the same… this man told me that not only did he not feel any type of way about me, he…

I love this comment and following this advice has been true in my own life, particularly building up my relationships with and pouring into other women. A few years ago I started taking close girlfriends out to nice restaurants. Every Valentine’s Day I pick a single friend to take out to a nice restaurant. That inevitably raised my standards with men — I used to be excited by a date proposal of any kind (yes, including coffee 🙃), and now I know that’s not worth leaving the house for. I’m capable…

This is great insight. I never thought of it this way. But it explains why my mom was horrified I’d told my ex something he didn’t deserve to know. When she advised me not to share that sort of thing with any future partners, I thought she was being old school and secretive. That was a year ago. But slowly I’ve been thinking about it and realizing she’s right.

I agree! Most men are scrubs. Once a man who invited me to a social event with a cover charge told me when I got there my name would be on a list because he was paying for me. But I got there before him, so I paid for myself because I would’ve gone to the event alone anyway. When he arrived, he was profusely apologetic and slid the cover fee over to me while we chatted at the bar. He also got my food and we had a fun time. I appreciated that he didn’t try to let the cover thing slide. Because I’…

This happened to me with someone’s dad 🤢 The dad is a running coach who was friends with a female friend of mine, and the three of us would run together. He said his son was a physical therapist, 6’2”, the same faith as me and that he’d invite him running with us so we could meet and potentially go out. Cool. Dear reader, the son was unable to hold a conversation of any sort. Very awkward. The kind of awkward where I took one look at him and thought, ‘It’s not a match.’

Dick-notized is a masterful term, I love it. And you’ll be better for it, I agree that tenet of FDS helps make things more crystal clear. Omg. One of my good friends told me all the red flags after the fact too. I told her also to be straight up next time. I literally had dinner with a loose acquaintance whom I’d last seen with my ex while we were together. Acquaintance said he didn’t trust the relationship from the get. He couldn’t set plans with you for a YEAR? Ugh. Good for you setting boundaries.

I agree that this also struck me.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy23/08/21 03:39 AM

Bump! I am currently looking for someone who can do a makeup consultation with me 1 on 1. I’d love to learn how to do an everyday look and a more glam look that works w my coloring.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/08/21 01:13 PM

I agree with this. The only HVM I’ve ever dated broke up with me cleanly and respectfully. Not one second of confusion in that relationship.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/08/21 01:12 PM
105

This is the key thing FDS opened my eyes to. It is NOT normal to feel confused. I think we stay in that state because we’re taught to make excuses for men and assume the best of their intentions. Like we’re raised to be pickmes.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/08/21 01:11 PM

You are so, so right. Look at how the little girl is looking at him sideways. Ugh the predatory nature of their “relationship” leaps through the screen.

Dang this is really sad.

This is disgusting. I had a friend in college whose dad was 65 when he was born. By the time we were in college his dad was in his 80s. I remember it like it happened yesterday, a group of us were discussing our biggest fears. Most of us were scared that we wouldn’t get jobs after school. He was scared his dad was gonna die of natural causes while we were in school.

Wow, how stingy.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/08/21 03:34 AM
46

This has to be the most frustrating thing in the world. Ugh
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/08/21 03:33 AM
29

This is real. An ex dumped me after learning about something in my past that I’d disclosed to him in the name of love and closeness. My mom, who is pro-FDS although she doesn’t use Reddit, told me later that he had no right to know what I’d told him, and that I shouldn’t tell a man that again. I struggle because on the one hand, she’s right. He really had no right to the information and he ended up using it against me. I guess I’d just hope that I can be as honest with a man I love as I can with…

I love this thread. Mine is a random man who was trying to holler at the grocery store telling me he was a sex worker. Then saying he was joking but hoped we could get to know each other. Hard pass.

I agree. The men I went on dates with from Hinge would have never approached me IRL. All scrubs.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/08/21 07:17 PM
5

This is so true! A friend I admire who recently broke up with a scrub has deleted her apps and instead has taken to expanding her social networks IRL. This new approach has helped her explore her city more: for example, she went to a gala dinner for a charity she admires and then went solo to an upscale bar downtown. She’s exploring and coming into her own, I love it!

This gives me chills. I dated someone who wrote me a list of 30 reflection questions after I made a mistake and asked me to turn them into him by a certain date. I told him I wasn’t his pupil and he wasn’t my teacher. He said I was right but that he would trust me more if I told him after I did the reflection. So fucked up to even type, but this reminds me of that. Makes me sick.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/08/21 06:48 PM

Wow. Imagine if your man described you right out of the gate as “scattered-brained, absent-minded and messy.” Yuck. Thank u, next

But Lilith, can you please share that cookie recipe?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/07/21 03:21 AM
15

This isn’t worth a separate post but I’m just feeling a little down on my dating life right now. I recently relocated to a large city. Someone asked me out at a mixer last week, texted me for a couple days then ghosted me. Ghosting happens, and I’m not attached to this person. Just more frustrated that almost every dating encounter I have is utterly underwhelming. I want to meet men but I simultaneously don’t want to waste my time. Hopes up for what?

Great point tbh 🤔
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy25/07/21 03:41 AM
89

Wow I agree. Once I was out at a bar with a group of mostly men I’d previously considered friends. They asked what I wanted in a future partner, lamented that I was single… Everything I said they tried to lower the standard for: “You want late 30s as a cap age? What about a man who’s 40? You want a man who goes to the gym? What if he has a great heart but isn’t as fit as you?” It was total bullshit.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/07/21 09:07 PM
6

Wow amen
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/07/21 09:03 PM
28

I agree. And I’m ashamed to admit that my last boyfriend had a married woman he knew from middle school reach out to him and say she’d dreamed about him having a baby. And she wanted to get lunch with him sometime. I remember him telling me this because he wanted to be “transparent,” and he was trying to get my permission to get lunch with her OR get me to go to lunch with her. Speaking of big mouths… he said “this is the kind of situation that could take a wrong turn” and decided against seeing…

This is it! A lesson learned.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/07/21 08:55 PM
59

I agree 💯. I remember being so confused and puzzled that a dear male friend a few years ago seemingly dropped me like a hot potato (we were very close by my estimation), got engaged to his long distance GF shortly after then moved. He hit me up two years later when I got a new job bc he was curious about what it was. I told him, asked how he was doing, and he never spoke to me again. Male friends are NOT worth it. I have many stories like this.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/07/21 08:54 PM
5

Agreed!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy22/07/21 04:25 PM

I agree. I almost left my job for a man last year. Thank God I did not. Now I have a badass new job in a different city that I wouldn’t have even applied for were I still w him.

I pray to God he treats the next woman better than me! I wouldn't want another woman to suffer the utter tomfoolery and disrespect I suffered. I sincerely wish my ex the best. Glad I'm not with him anymore. 🤢

14

This is spot on. I didn't realize a group of male acquaintances in my city were LV until I was with them at a bar, and we got into a conversation about dating. They asked me about what I wanted in a man, framing the conversation like they were going to keep an eye out for me on any good ones for potential set ups. But all their questions about my standards were about how low I was willing to go. I felt pressured to be the "cool girl." Can he be old? How much older? If I said he could be two year…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/06/21 03:40 PM

It's so important also to vet for his personal financial habuts. I dated a man from a wealthy background who was severely financially irresponsible. Once he literally ran out of money in his bank account due to budgeting issues, and he told me he asked his mom for money to tide him over until the next paycheck. I tried to HeLp HiM bUdGet instead of dumping him, never again!

I dabble in OLD on and off, and I think FDS helped me realize that deep down I know I haven't met any quality men in that arena, it just satisfies a lust for male validation. I'm really looking forward to my Hot Girl Summer™. I've been dressing up a lot, and people react positively, which gives me a totally different energy. It's a feedback loop: I look good so I feel good, I feel good so I look good. I don't need validation from dusties on apps (Had a revelation the other day that I wouldn't en…

Omg. I'm embarrassed to admit that an ex I ignored minefields of red flags from just because he was getting his PhD, ran out of money and had to ask his mom for help until his stipend showed up. He ran out because of a lack of budgeting. Superhero Struggle Lover me sent him videos about budgeting, told him about how I budgeted and offered to help him track his finances. Why sis?!

Love this. #9 has been the most important for me on my FDS journey. I feel so much freer. Ran into someone I've danced with at salsa a few times. He was like, "Oh hey!" and trying to act more personable than we actually are. He doesn't know my name lol. Old me would've been so disappointed. But today I just saw the interaction for what it was. You know? I see charm for what it is now. An act.

Sorry if it's TMI but I started removing my pubic hair for male approval. No matter how I removed it -- waxing, sugaring, Nair, you name it -- I'd get ingrown hairs that left my skin extremely bumpy. This year, I decided to stop removing it. I just clean it up. The other day, I bought a couple of cute bathing suits with shorts bottoms... I'm literally never looking back.

This! Once a guy whom I've known for almost a decade randomly decided he was interested in dating me. He flew out to my city to take me out. Cool. But this poor fellow sent me a screenshot of a DM he'd sent someone on Reddit -- so I creeped (still do for entertainment) & saw that he's constantly doling out marriage and dating advice on here! Everything you said here is dead-on. My ex-boyfriend was like this. I knew he was a nerd in high school, but didn't realize how much he lived through that identity until I started taking comments of attitudes he'd slip up overtime. He resented me for being attractive and outgoing. He vocalized to me that he was scared I'd lie to him about who I was and outsmart him with my charm since he lacked the social skill to tell the difference. Exactly! It never satisfies. I've been this woman trying to get answers ("If it made sense to me then maybe I could be okay with it, or better yet fix myself to earn his love.") But it NEVER works, it NEVER satisfies. At the end of the day, the rejection is the root of the pain. Confronting him, cornering him, coercing him doesn't change the fact of the rejection. But once you no longer place your worth in a man's opinion of you... You are truly free...

I agree if it's men! If a girlfriend calls me sis or queen, I'm fine with it. No women in my life point out my blackness regularly. If a man is referring to my blackness constantly... It feels slimy. It's usually a LV black man who feels "afrocentric."

This is so real. Thanks for sharing this. A friend called me yesterday to say one of her professional male mentors is being weird, but she feels bad bc she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. If you'd asked me last year whether I espoused FDS values, I would have said yes, but this ultimate goal of authentic happiness without a man, and happening to find a quality one just being a cherry on top... I realize this goal more and more daily.

I also have been interested in being a mother for a long time! But the older I get, the more it just looks like a pipe dream to me. Those articles about women 'choosing' not to have kids absolutely piss me off, too. Most men are not suitable to have children with. Point blank periodt.

Oooof. Reminds me that my white ex literally fought me over using the n-word... "I say it in front of my black friend and he doesn't care. It's just a word." 🤡 Ugh just shivers thinking I wanted to marry him.

This hits home. I shared a hurtful, traumatic struggle with my last ex. He left me, then I had that trauma plus the trauma of the way my partner left to deal with. Great post.

You're so right. I recently watched a video from a female Youtuber who used to work for a big law firm making $250k/year. Long story short, her boss wouldn't let her go see her grandpa before he died, and she knew he was dying. He kept saying "What do you think we pay you so much for?" And she quit after this incident. I was inspired by and proud of her.

Elon Musk's first wife Justine Musk wrote an article for Marie Claire in which she said while dancing at their wedding, Elon said "I am the alpha in this relationship." He proceeded to tell her many times that were she his employee, he would fire her. One month and three sessions after starting couples counseling (per Justine's request), Elon said the marriage must be fixed today or he'd divorce her tomorrow. He filed for divorce the following morning. Before all this he'd asked her to sign a po…

I appreciate this comment so deeply. You're right: Why, as a woman, get married to go 80/20 with a man? Why am I giving birth to children who will have his last name if I'm not fully provided for? Reading your comment makes me realize that even though I was on board with FDS when I first discovered it, I still had deep-seated pickmeisha tendencies. I didn't understand the importance of BOTH establishing myself career-wise/having independent financial streams and settling up, so to speak. Ugh. Ju…

Thanks for spelling this out! I am definitely a woman who dated a number of ill-equipped nerds with several red flags just because they were smart. Same. The last time I was in a relationship on Valentine's Day, I got my then-boyfriend a pop-up card and a box of desserts from his favorite French bakery. He didn't "believe" in Valentine's Day, then two months later asked if I was offended that we didn't celebrate it. If I'd been on FDS in those days, y'all would have looked at me like, "🤡"
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/02/21 05:43 AM

Good for you! Cheers. I remember the first time I blocked a man, I felt so nervous. I was going against all my instincts -- those are, the instincts to question and doubt my instincts as they pertained to men (thanks, patriarchy!) -- yet it paid off. At least now I know any man who finds a way to contact me post-block is deliberately disregarding my boundaries.

But now that my siblings and I are adults, I see my brother floundering -- can't cook, doesn't exercise, gaining unhealthy weight as a result. My mother resents this in him. Granted, if he had self-drive he could look up a cooking channel on YT and learn how to prepare food. But I'm like, mom... You can't be mad at him for not knowing how to cook when you had me in the kitchen and him popped in front of the TV in the next …

It's funny (disturbing) what sort of tomfoolery I glossed over in my pick-me days. Your post reminded me that one of my exes cut his fingernails sporadically. I hear you. My ex broke up with me at my parents' house on a major holiday. During the tumultuous breakup, a lot of mental issues on his end came to light. I just had a breakup with someone who did the right things on paper, but ended up having me on a lofty pedestal that abruptly shattered. Thinking that I was ready to do the work of love with this man makes me sick to my stomach.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this has more to do with upfront planning and effort. A friend of mine is dating someone who could end up being a HVM (only time will tell) who lives several states away from her. He's from her hometown. He flew her out to see him, got him and her separate Airbnbs in a couple of cities for their pre-planned date adventures. He doesn't appear to be an LVM just looking for sporadic fun, which is the danger of LDRs (especially online). Another friend is …

I agree. I think you're in a healthy place if you can put on makeup out of desire, but still feel like you can leave the house without it. It's so sad how much effort we're expected to put into applying makeup.

This is so sad. I'm most struck by, "To be honest, I hated how desperate she was acting (...)" This, ladies, is why we must not go out of our way to attract men who are slipping or who are not giving us the love and attention we deserve. He thinks his wife is pathetic for trying to please him. Very sad.

You are a wonderful friend! For my birthday this year, my girlfriends made me feel so showered with love. They threw me two birthday parties, and my neighbor (a high value elderly QUEEN) made me an elegant cake. I've only lived in my neighborhood for three months. I share this just to exclaim that high value generous women are AMAZING. Cheers to your friend!

One of my old bosses wasn't quite as upfront, but reminds me of your friend. When I was an intern, he would complain to me that all the women he dated were "crazy." They were all my age at the time (early 20s). I told him he only attracted "crazy" women because he very obviously was older (balding, had a pot belly, yellow teeth), and they weren't with him for him -- just like he wasn't authentically looking for real love. Goodnesssss.

Well damn
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy15/08/20 10:09 PM

Hmmm so true. I dated a man like this earlier this summer, then started dating someone else a month before cutting him loose. The second guy in much less time knew more about me, just because he actually expressed curiosity about me.

I have a friend like this. Objectively gorgeous in the ways society lauds, but her self-esteem is in the gutter. Honestly, the curse of being this stunning may be all the attention you attract -- it's quantity, not quality. I'm glad your model friend started reading resources to help her out of this. And I hope out of this she came!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy25/07/20 03:19 AM

OP, that man sounds like a nightmare! This is a great question. A few years ago, I went on a date with a man I'd been set up with. He made polite conversation during dinner, didn't hesitate to pay for my meal and asked me out again with specifics soon after. But when he asked me out again, he also let me know I was free to sleepover at his place anytime. When I declined, he told me I was a prude and that I would never fine anyone. I guess I should thank him for being so concerned about my future…

Wow, you're spot on. So sorry about the Valentine's Day guy... Ugh. Ran across this quote today, seems spot on: "The biggest coward is a man who awakens a woman's love without the intention of loving her."
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/07/20 08:58 PM
11

Ooof. That hit hard. I hear you. I bet you learned your lesson though. That is brutal!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/07/20 04:17 PM

Thank you for this post. I just fell for this. Ten days after meeting a man who appeared to be a dreamboat, he casually dropped that he was planning to do an activity with me I'd been planning to do in October. Unprompted. He definitely seemed too good to be true, and that promise played a role. The future faking was coupled with love-bombing. Guess who left me high and dry this weekend? This same man.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/07/20 12:11 PM
25

Why we must continue dating other men!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/07/20 12:07 PM

Thanks for this comment. You're right. Overall, at least I can say I wouldn't take this man back if he rang my doorbell tomorrow. I now question his integrity and maturity too much. Hmmm, thanks for sharing your personal experience. I guess we just have to wait that stuff out to see their true colors. Hey, if we get love bombed again now, at least we have these experiences to keep us sober.

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/07/20 01:55 AM

Hmmm interesting. Yeah, when he was going off about infatuation, I questioned his maturity.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/07/20 01:16 AM
6

I did find it selfish that he drove to my city knowing he wasn't into me, but purposely performing gestures that he knew would make me increase in affection for him. He said he wanted to go all out... That part stung.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/07/20 01:16 AM
10

Thank you, Cinderella! Amen. You're right. I made that mistake with my ex-boyfriend in 2019 and thirsted after him like a wounded puppy, typing paragraphs on paragraphs. Not this time. I deleted all of our communications, and now he cannot reach me. Time to level up.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy20/07/20 01:15 AM

It's funny because I know the lessons in my head, but in this case I surely excused myself from the rules by letting myself think "he's different."

Oh boy. I called in sick to work once because I was deeply infatuated with my ex when we started dating, and I'd stay up on the phone talking and get two hours of sleep multiple nights in a row. I was so exhausted that I had to call in sick. I won't be doing that again!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/05/20 04:32 AM

Lol! I had known him for a while from a social group we were both in, and he just "doesn't play by the rules."

Lol yes! I love that he paid for the cake still 🤣

Wow. Once I KNEW a man meeting me for coffee was going to stand me up, so I brought a book. Sure enough, he called me stammering about how he was late and he was so sorry and only 20 minutes away. I told him not to worry about it, blocked him and kept reading.

I hear what you and u/UnofficialUnicorn are saying. How do you define forgiveness? I think it's the same thing as not allowing a person to live in your head rent-free. Not so much a gift you give them, but a release you extend for yourself. I don't think it means feeling good about the other person or denying that their actions hurt you.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy22/05/20 04:19 AM

"Don't be scared to walk away, they always come back anyway" is so true! I wouldn't have known the fact without FDS

I love this convo you two are having! I'll add that what I learned is even if he recognizes he's wrong, it won't make you feel better. I texted my ex so many paragraphs over a span of months that I could print them into a hardcopy book to mail to his apartment. And guess what? Every response he gave me pissed me off. If he didn't respond, I got pissed. If he wrote a paragraph back, I got pissed. If he called me, I got pissed. I had to learn that forgiveness is for you. So now I forgive them (thi…

Someone on a dating app asked me out the other day (red flag during quarantine on its own), then was like "Btw I have two kids and got divorced in January, wanted to put my cards on the table." Then was salty that I wasn't interested in meeting.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy14/05/20 05:00 PM

I agree. In hindsight, I have no idea why I dated my ex. We have nothing in common. I would swipe left on his profile on a dating app, our beliefs are so clearly not in sync. But that chemistry got me good.

I think a big part of r/FDS is embracing the idea of settling for "nothing." If you're living a full life as a single person, it won't feel like "nothing." None of us are guaranteed a HVM, and we all know it. Honestly the more you level up the less you find men who are worthy of you. I'm not ugly, but I am not stunning by this society's standards either. But I've learned to love myself overtime. And no way in hell am I commiting myself to a man who isn't totally in love with me and willing to de…

Agreed! Great comment. My dear friend just got engaged at 30, almost 31. Before meeting her fiance, she had never been asked out in her life. She was involved in extracurricular sports, her church, was social, but no one approached her. I was reflecting on her situation the other day and thinking... Good for her. Who wants to be approached by tons of LVM? Sure hasn't done me any good. But now this queen is engaged to a man who is head over heels for her. All you need is one!

Former pickmeisha storytime: A few years ago, someone I met at a park asked me out later that day on Facebook. First he wanted to get coffee. We arranged a date and time. Then he said, "Actually, let's get drinks." I don't drink, but told myself I would just get the lowest alcohol option at this restaurant. Now, I am not ashamed to tell men I don't drink and certainly not with them. Typing this out makes me realize so many ways I compromised myself but brushed it aside and honestly didn't really…

Honestly at this point in my life, most men who approach me are LV. When I was in my early 20s and late teens I was over the moon every time I got asked out. Now I'm in my late 20s, and when I go out with people who don't immediately present blaring red flags I'm shocked.

I have similar thoughts. The other day I was reflecting on the impact r/FDS has made in my life. When I found the sub, I was bending over backwards trying to make plans with a man I felt chemistry with on Hinge who simply wasn't into me. I knew in my heart that bending over backwards the way I was didn't make sense, but couldn't articulate why. r/FDS gave me the language and empowerment to own the fact that as a woman, I am the prize. I have dated two HVM of the many people I've gone out with. T…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/04/20 04:00 PM
3

I totally empathize with that! I'm shocked whenever someone of quality tries to seriously date me because it rarely happens. But! You can't let that discourage you. You don't want to let men you know deep down you don't like into the gate out of fear. You are the prize. Not these men. You are living a full life without them, and if you meet a good one, then he gets to be the cherry on top. But you sincerely would rather be thriving alone then worried about how many men like you. You're only look…

This is a beautiful and vulnerable comment. Thank you. Putting energy into your appearance projects confidence. You can't slouch in heels! Not saying OP needs to wear them, but trying to make the point that investing in your appearance and believing you're worth that investment HELPS. Few people look beautiful without some level of effort.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/04/20 07:35 PM
3

I think the issue with your boyfriend is you want to go on dates, and he isn't satisfying that desire. You should tell him you want him to intentionally take you out. If he doesn't rise to meet your desires, he's not your HVM, even if he checks off standard HVM boxes.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/04/20 07:32 PM
11

I think the beauty of r/FDS is if you learn to vet men and only keep the ones who are super into you... This becomes a non-issue. I've never had a man who authentically pursued me try to divide his time.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/04/20 07:30 PM

Yup. So thankful I learned this is BS advice from people who think the worst thing that can happen to you is 'dying alone.'

Amen! I realized the first time I did not post in r/relationship_advice throughout any point in a dating stint with a particular man was the first time I dated someone who was high value. Now I know if I have an inclination to ask for help decoding his disinterest, he ain't it.

Didn't ask me out again after a coffee date. Figuratively pulled my hair out regularly more than a year later wondering why not.

I agree wholeheartedly. My ex made me feel like a million bucks. I appreciate that, and I know I won't settle for less than that in the future. Men who genuinely love you want you to know it.

When I was around age 15, I came across a nude of a stranger on my cousin's cellphone. I'd been using it to play games and poked around. He has no idea that I saw this picture. I swore at that moment that I would never send a nude to anyone. I would hate to not know who's seen me.

This is facts. I have a male acquaintance who is morbidly obese and is always going after 'traditionally' hot women. It used to blow my mind: they never want him back. And hasn't he looked in a mirror? But you're dead on.

Thank you so much for this post. The homemade hammock sounds amazing! I am praying more. I am doing some prayer in the AM, afternoon and PM. I introduced myself to my neighbors this afternoon and will start checking in regularly. Yesterday, I cleaned out my closet and donated a bag of clothes. I made a pile of several books I've started and enjoy but haven't yet finished. I plan to bust through those!

A few years ago, a friend of mine went on a pizza date with a man in Chicago. They went out for deep dish. She ordered pepperoni, and at that moment he asked her to order cheese because he was trying to save money. 🙃 She's happily married to someone else now!

I agree! I love this sub to death, and I honestly had to take a break because at some point I was reading so many stories about LVM that I became jaded. I found FDS maybe two weeks before the WSJ article came out. It helped me level up SO MUCH. Now we are mostly memes and bashing scrotes. It's hilarious but at some point not fruitful for me.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/03/20 02:22 AM

I was horrified also! Can you imagine e-chatting for who-knows-how-long before meeting?

Mods, please delete if I missed that this has already been posted. It's a BuzzFeed article about people dating during COVID-19.

Sad that you had to make that edit. That is FDS principle already. Someone who keeps you worrying needs to be cut off.

So true. Anytime I've called a man out for not actually being interested, he's admitted to it. I'm glad r/FDS taught me to stop writing paragraphs though. These men don't deserve to be called out. They act stupid but know exactly what they're doing.

Very true. Women in that situation tend to wonder what is wrong with them: 'Is it something I said? Maybe I looked bad in my outfit? Maybe I'm boring?'

"No answer is an answer." Pickmeisha storytime: I was hung up for a YEAR over a man I met in line for confession and went on ONE coffee date with. I happen to be friends with his cousin, so I was like, "wHy DoEsN't He TeXt Me?!?!" Girl, because he does not want to. A year of energy ladies. A y e a r.

One of my exes told me after a month of dating that he didn't think he was so shallow, but that he was physically attracted to me and delighted in that physical attraction. I'm still like... Was he seriously so surprised that physical attraction is a thing for him? Very weird.

Ugh. Reminds me of my first ex. He called me a "run-of-the-mill slut" when he found out I engaged in sexual activity with someone before we started dating. But then wanted me to have sex with him.

Thanks for this comment. I'm an outgoing person and have no problem chatting up women. I definitely need to be cognizant of and test out this smile and keep it moving and approachable thing with men.
