I have never sought out relationships before, and am at a stage in life now where meeting new people just doesn’t happen that much anymore.

Most of my girl friends have moved away because the cost of living here is too high. Most of my male friends have gotten married and have had to drop me because being the single lady in the all-couples social group marks you as weird and dangerous.

I’ve had neighbors and random people (like my hairdresser) take an interest in the fact that I’m still single try to set me up on blind dates, and those guys have surprisingly been HVMs. The drawback there was that I didn’t feel any attraction and felt like there was so little in common that I cut them loose as soon as I knew I wasn’t interested.

I don’t want to try online dating. I don’t want to date someone that I work with. I have a variety of hobbies but have had poor results with meeting HVMs this way - not to mention that it is unpleasant to keep running into someone after you’ve broken things off.

Is anyone else in the same boat? Would the ladies who have met HVMs chime in on how you met?
