I just sit there smiling at him until he does what he has to do. After he puts his card down and the waiter brings it back I thank him.

I just smile and wait. Makes it awkward for them if they were not intending not to pay.

In my country the server usually asks “do you need separate checks?”

I keep my mouth shut and let the guy answer.

If he says yes, I pay up my share, finish up the date but on my way home I delete and block

If he says no, Whoop de doo

Any self respecting man won’t embarrass himself or his date by telling the server to get separate checks.

When the server/machine doesn’t ask the question, just be slow with your purse grab - reach into your bag but do some girly thing first such as reapply lipstick, brush your hair, check your eye makeup. If he has any intention to treat you he will beat you to it.

I ignore it completely and look the other way. After they've paid it, I'll usually take their hand and say "thanks, I had a great time"

Most men will grab it automatically, I've only had one who let it linger expectantly. Still made no attempt to pay that one. As long as you do it with confidence he's not going to want to embarrass himself by asking you to pay

If he doesn't reach for the bill right away/there's an awkward lull where i'm still unsure, I'll genuinely reach for my purse to pay my share. At this point he'll either say "no, no I got it. I'm the one that asked you out :)", which i'll accept and thank him

or

he won't say shit and we do end up splitting the bill (only happened once or twice in my life).

In this instance, that will be our first and last date. You're not about to ask ME out and then be a cheapskate lmao. If money's tight, don't ask a girl out on a date.

This only applies to the first or second date though (for me). By the 3rd date it generally feels more casual and I don't mind grabbing drinks if he paid for the food or whatever.
