I use to frequent tumblr in my youth and was an active member on the site for about six years. During that time I saw the rise and fall of the “SJW” movement, for lack of a better word. A lot of my friends were active participants.

The thing that gets lost in these screenshots is that the OP doesn’t understand the site’s culture and doesn’t care to, and is unable to differentiate between troll accounts who purposefully post inflammatory comments, and shit posts. Both of which are the main fodder for places like t*mblrinaction.

The posts are just screenshotted and shared as if they are indicative of the main culture on the website/political movement when like.... they’re not. It’s the equivalent of going to T_D and passing that off as indicative of Reddit culture as a whole. It’s not accurate and just supports a biased opinion.

ETA: This is a rather insightful comment as well about how tumblr at one point was Reddit’s favorite site to mock and the implications of such:

“tumblr” is literally code for “trans people” “abuse survivors/victims” “poc” “women” etc when people go “XDDD TUMBLR’S GONNA GET ME!” they are literally saying “I realized what I just said was real fucking shitty and hurtful but I cant take it back or I will look like a pussy so I have to paint the victims of my shitty words as evil and over dramatic”
