I’m attracted to intelligence, but I need the trifecta. Intelligence + no arrogance + doesn’t let his field define him. I’ve met many brilliant men but when they let their brilliance in one specific field define their entire being, they’re rather uninteresting.

I lived in the engineering campus when I was doing my masters and 80% of them were LVM. Not showering, playing video games for hours, not entertaining any intellectual topics other than the ones they wanted, etc.

I had nerd bfs and some were LV, some HV. Honestly, I believe that if nerds could charm women, most would definitely be fuckboys. Let’s not stereotype them as nice guys because they don’t have options.

Edit: also was listening to a guy for hours while he was talking about stuff he was passionate about. But it was a monologue and I got bored quickly but sat through it to be agreeable. It was horrid.

Nerdy guys and Intelligent guys are 2 different things.

A guy that is intelligent is more well rounded and more attractive. He can speak passionately, hold conversations and knows how to read rooms and broach subject at the right time. He can have open discussions and listen to different points of view without dissolving to arguing

Nerdy guys tend to be basement dwellers who don’t really shower, have no social graces and jack it constantly to D.VA porn. Know it alls who dissect their favourite show to pieces and get worked up if you challenge them in anyway.

Believe me I used to be a self proclaimed “nerdy” gamer girl and the “nerdy” guy matches I got were down right disgusting. Be very cautious of a guy who calls himself nerdy and go for a guy who instead thinks of himself as intelligent or literate

Genuine enthusiasm about a topic is attractive (and ignorance + incuriosity are active turnoffs), not just because I like learning about new things, but because enthusiastic/curious people have good energy and it's even better when they want to share their joy with you. The considerate, attentive, secure-in-themselves nerds I've had as lovers were good experiences, and I married one.

However, nerdiness plus a know-it-all attitude, condescension, self-centredness, dismissiveness, arrogance, and/or other kinds of social ineptitude gets unattractive quickly and absolutely, same as with physical attractiveness or any other seemingly positive trait.

I don’t know that there’s a correlation there. The two men that treated me the worst were the two smartest I dated. Granted I have a terrible track record and I’m sure there are plenty of intelligent HVM, but I also think there are less book smart guys out there that can be just as HV.

As another commenter said, there’s gotta be a lack of ego along with the intelligence.
