Basically as the title said, the son of my parents' friends is getting married. Now my parents and these people are very close.

They sent an invitation out to our whole family and told my parents to bring me to the wedding as well to show support. I don't want to. My parents frame this as a social obligation and tell me it brings them shame if I don't do this one thing for them because they are their best friends.

I'm not ready to be around weddings for a while because I was supposed to get married this year. I was together with a guy for 5 years. It ended 1.5 years ago. Anyway, it didn't really work out because he was LV, non-communicative, a mooch, pothead, started doing illegal activity, etc. FDS helped me realize I had to cut him out, so thank you ladies.

I don't know if I should just suck it up and go to the wedding and show my face to keep my parents happy and their reputation up around their friends - since it's been at least a year already? It's, without denial, kind of painful to attend a wedding right now. I just don't want to be around the celebration of two people coming together. I'm gonna overcome this, but heartbreak is tricky and it needs some healing time. What do y'all think I should do? Should I just accept life for being this way and push through?

My parents don't understand emotions/feelings. They won't get this if I told them.
