Nothing works when trying to get the initial connection

This is both online and offline.

1. I never get approached irl, and online, if I get a match, the men never speak first (if they do, it’s asking for sex)
2. If I initiate, irl or online, the conversation is always one sided and they never show any interest in me, and eventually stop replying.

What can I do? It has happened this way for so long. I ask questions, I act interested, my profile is full and thorough. Ideally I prefer it when they contact first of course, but neither way is getting me anywhere.
