I have been single for 1.5 years. During that time I halfheartedly have been on a few dating sites. Tinder, Bumble and POF. I say with "half a heart" because I rarely found anyone on any medium I had any interest in speaking with.

I went off POF as I found it to be an exhausting interface, and i just wanted to be able to quickly swipe rather than having to open each profile.

Tinder around here is such garbage. My age range, paired with living in a pretty .... boring city that doesn't get a lot of over-turn of new men, it's super rare I will swipe right. Like maybe 1-100 profiles? Maybe less.

Bumble I liked, but I've actually deleted it. And this was because the woman must make the first contact. The few times I'd match with someone I think there was three that I'd actually message before the 24 hour expiration time would come. I'd send a low-level, intro message to get the ball rolling. (usually making a specific comment about something in one of their photos). The guys either didn't reply at all, or in one case, tossed the ball back to me with a closed-ended reply. (so no real interest).

I think Bumble starts interactions off on the wrong foot. I don't like making the first move. I feel it shifts the balance.

On one hand, a HVM wouldn't be put off by the balance-shift, but I can't help but feel showing the initial interest by that first message instantly lowers your value.

TBF.. I don't take OLD very seriously and still rarely swipe right on anyone on my one remaining app.

i'M Just curious if any others on this sub have felt this way about Bumble.
