hi everyone! I am 21 and currently in college, and my friend (also female) and I had a interesting convo recently about who pays for a date. I want the guy to pay for dates because I want to know he knows I’m someone to invest in and that I have a lot to offer and my time/energy have value. She says that’s unrealistic because we’re in college and college guys are broke, but I don’t think that’s a good argument. I think guys will spend money on what they find valuable to them and I don’t need a fancy date, it could be ice cream or coffee. Can someone tell me if I’m asking for too much?

Also I haven’t dated since I was in high school, so if I start dating again and it comes to paying, what should I do? I will definitely bring money to cover myself, but should I offer? if he accepts should we not go out again or should I clarify my standards? I’m just confused on what should happen.
