I worked for a strong woman in a high position where we were both subjected to tasteless male commentary.

One of the first things she taught me, aside from a strong handshake, was that when a man says something inappropriate you stare into their eyes with a straight face and give it “two beats” - two heart beats - and, if applicable, ask “what makes you say that?”

They literally shrivel. Every time. I am so grateful to her. She taught me a lot of important lessons about taking zero shit from men.

My dad's friend once told a rape joke so I pretended not to get it so he explained it to me. I think it clicked how horrible it was when he noticed his 6-year-old daughter listening in. I didn't say it, but I thought "Yeah, it's fucked up now isn't it?"

Couldn’t agree more. Had an idiot say that back when I worked as Elvira at a Halloween haunted house he was lucky to wear costumes that required heavy robes to hide- and then makes a raised arm boner motion. Story goes as follows-

Oh you know (again with the arm boner this time with more animated movements) I was glad to wear heavy robes to conceal things

I can see now that he attempts to further explain that my cosplay of Elvira literally caused him a boner and that as he was proudly describing how he hid said boner, the realization finally registers on his face that I wasn’t so stupid after all.

His voice trails off, he slowly backs away from the nurse station. Yes, did I mention I was currently his fathers NURSE in the ER when he decided to reminisce this simple anecdote next to my coworkers. Big oof buddy

I heard someone else say (can't remember who, it was either on Reddit or Facebook) that when someone tells them a racist/sexist joke they'll say "Wow great joke, I'm going to tell everyone what a great joke you told me" and watch them panic.

It would depend on the rest of the co-workers, but I think it would be pretty funny if the person in question knew the staff would react poorly.

ugh. not exactly related, but my boss, who is old enough to be my father, flirts with me all the time, calls me hot, cute, etc. I reported him to hr and nothing happened. and to top it off, my female coworker thinks its funny.
