If you have not read Steve Harvey's "Walk Like a Woman, Think Like a Man", pick it up, it's worth your time. I promise.

Here is my facorite rule:

THE THREE MONTH RULE

When you first meet a man you intend on dating, there's always a honeymoon phase. This where the three month rule Congress in. The first 3 months is no sex, no titles. You can go on dates, and you can set your own limits sexually, but no penetration. This does a few things. When you tell him, if he tries to fight it, he's not in it for you, sweetie. Also, there is things that need to happen when during these 3 months - one being, you meet his parents. If they live in another state, you may have an exception, but his parents should know about you with out you nagging about it. You should discuss both of your idea's of the future and see if they are compatible. (Why waste time with a man who doesn't know what he wants? And how can you know he wants you there?)

This book changed my dating perspective and the way I went about dating. I stopped wasting time on guys who weren't trying to see me, and set my bar high for the kind of man I'd want my kids to look up to. I changed the rules a bit; mine was no sex, no titles. If we do have sex in that time frame, it'll be a one night stand and you can take your shit when you leave. This puts him in charge of the situation. He makes the choice. (I'd like to note that it took a lot for me to go on a date with someone, so this wasn't an open invitation to every male I met.)

With that said, I'll call myself the hypocrite. Two weeks into dating my husband, I BEGGED for him to f*ck me while we were fooling around one night. I swear, he stopped what he was doing and asked me 3 times of I was sure, and then asked me if he could still come back if he did. I stopped. I had never had this happen before. Most men gave in with in the first 3 months and we moved on. I asked him what would happen if I told him my rule still applied and he told me we would be stopping right here. While he wanted to go further, he wanted me more. I made the descision that it was okay. After we were done, he asked again if he could stay. We've been together for almost 6 years, happily married with 2 kids.

Here's my point, you set your standards. You decide when and what and for how long. He can take it or leave it; because while that one guy thinks you're a lot, another man will see your worth and will want all of you.

Also, I'd like to note that while I'm happily married, I joined this sub because I love the female positivity and giving feed back.
