I think this is when having older more experienced women in your life come to play. Back when I reentered the dating world, I was super rusty and didn't know what to expect. I haven't dated anyone else after my ex. I ended up lowering myself to entertain a friend turned fuckboy. My younger, chiller libfem friends were all "just chill, relationships just take time to become commitments these days, it's really like that. Tell him your feelings."

So even while I felt there was something off, I listened to them.

I finally got the courage to talk to an older friend and she was like "ugh why are you still entertaining this asshole, you can do so much better with a good man who will give you everything you want. You deserve the best, do not think otherwise. You start lowering your expectations in a relationship and the way you see yourself will also become lower and lower..."

That stood out for me because it was true. Once I accepted disrespectful behavior I felt miserable and the way I saw myself plummeted.

Everyone needs FDS girlfriends in their lives. Their words are harsh and difficult to hear, but it's ultimately good for you.
