Ladies… you’ll see from my post history that I was pretty heartbroken around two weeks ago, because my and ex and I broke up as he had issues he needed to resolved & was unable to commit in the way I required him to. In his words, ‘he needed to be single’.

I would just like to provide a short update: FDS works! I have spent the last two weeks absolutely LOVING myself, I’ve thrown myself into work, I returned to my apartment alone, I’m seeing friends, I’m self-soothing and self-caring like it’s the hottest thing around. My journal and I are best friends.

Don’t get me wrong: I get moments of sadness. The relationship was great and so I recognise I will continue to mourn that for a while.

But: my mindset has shifted. I am putting myself first, and that means choosing that which chooses me. (Not a perfect mantra I know but it helps me out of bed). Anyone who truly loved me, would never put themselves in a position where they risk losing me. And that’s facts. So he never deserved me anyway.

I’ve booked two trips in the next months, my weekends are filled (I literally have been asking friends to do stuff, don’t wait around for them to come to you). I’m planning a big adventure for next year AND I got offered the job I have been dreaming of for the last year. I also will be saging my apartment tonight.

I recognise my position is a privileged one to be able to have and do those things but my point remains/ ladies who are struggling with whether to end a relationship, who are going through the pain of the breakup, who can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel: YOU GOT THIS. Single life will take time to transition to, but I promise you if you work on loving yourself, watering YOU, putting YOU first, life will get so much easier.
