In my experience the best way to avoid any kind of manipulation and distrrss is to treat a guy you like as how youd treat a guy youre not interested in. Be nice enough but dont do any work. This alwayss worked for me. I dont get mad at them because i dont have expectations and cut them off easily also. The person who care less has the power. Also treat them in exact way as their attachment style. My ex was avoidant type so when we had conflict i just avoided him before he did until he properly apologixed for it.
