Interesting. Definitely looks like most people put men to higher standards in relationships than women, though unsurprisingly men seem more conscious of this than women.

The issue with the study is it does not differentiate between the respondent's perception of dating for themselves or for people in general. The questions are too vague.

If men initiate contact based more in appearance, then the men may have judged value as much or more before the dating began.
