Truth is, women can only be independent due to the luxuries, safety and conveniences built by men that make modern life extremely comfortable compared to the way our ancestors lived. I have been to poor countries where i witnessed how hard women in those countries have to work and i can tell you western women are the most privileged class of people in the history of humanity. They complain about housework when all they have to do is push a button and sit on their ass reading cosmo whilst their great grandma probably had to work all day raising 10 kids and cleaning clothes by hands and much more.
